Thread: Billion 7300 ADSL modem has flawed chipset/design

Default Billion 7300 ADSL modem has flawed chipset/design

I bought a Billion 7300N RE ADSL modem a couple of months ago from Matrix.

The wireless network keeps going down if not used for a couples of hours and it never comes back up. Only way to get it working again is if you reset the modem.

I see many people have the same problem with this modem http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/978788. Also here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1130708

Spoke to Billion SA about it, they have no solutions.

Going to have to go spend another R1,000 on a new ADSL modem, the Billion 7300 has ended my trust in Billion over the last 5 years as a producer of reliable ADSL hardware.

    Hi

just return it, and get an new one, it is clearly faulty, otherwise go for an TP-Link, very good value for money.

    Ps, it also does half-brige.

I can't believe that Billion SA just say they have no solution for this, they have always been very helpful and responsive throughout the time I've dealt with them.

Have they replaced the product for you? If not, I'd send it back and tell them to check it out and fix the issue.

You can also try send a PM to BILLION Tech, he's always really helpful.

    Good day OutOfTheBox,

    I hope you are well.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused in regards to this. Please may I have the firmware you have on the unit. The latest firmware on the Billion SA website might fix any bugs in regards to this. http://www.billionsa.com/support/dow...e/wireless.php
Also have you tried changing the channel ID? Sometimes interference in your area can cause issue like this.

If however you have tried all this and you still experience issues I would suggest you return it to the shop you bought it from and have them test it for you. If it is a faulty unit it might need to be repaired or replaced if still in warranty.

Please let me know if you need any help in regards to this.

Same issue with my Billion 400G. Wireless goes down after about a days use and then freezes the entire unit up and have to reset even to use the wired connections. Got it replaced at the Telkom shop for a brand new one and did the exact same thing.

I have a TP-Link now, not giving me any issues. I won't ever touch a Billion product again.

Pity though, my Billion 7300G have been for more than 5 years plus without any problems.
