Your Current Specs: I am using my loltop mostly, desktop PC broke lol.

It really isn't ideal for gaming, so yeah, look to build a new one.

Budget: R5000 to R7000 (excluding a monitor for now) Not the biggest budget in the world but yeah.

Main Use: Gaming [Dota 2, HON, WOW MOP, D3 etc.]/General Usage.

Monitor Resolution: I have a monitor at home at the moment, Dell one, think the resolution is a bit bigger than 1600x900. Sorry at work so I am not too sure. I will be buying a new one in a month or 2. So yeah, any additional recommendations on monitors would be much appreciated.

Are you going to re-use any parts?: No.

When do you need your build by? : No real rush I guess.

Are you going to overclock? : Probably not.

For your budget I would recommend an i5 build

CPU : i5 3540 @R1825
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H @R790
GPU : Gigabyte HD7850 @R2625
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB @R630
Power Supply : Corsair CX500 @R580
RAM : Kingston Hyper X 8GB - 1600MHz @R455
Case : Cooler Master Elite 240 @R255
Optical Drive : Asus DVD-RW 24X @R150

Total = R7310

You might want to hold out until the GTX 660(Ti) possibly releases this month, will be around the same price as the HD7850 but will offer better performance. The reason I have put a HD7850 in here is that it will be able to play the most demanding games currently and in the near future at 1080P. For your monitor I would suggest a Samsung S23B300B @R1892. No problem, for a temporary, but capable GPU I would recommend a MSI HD6850 @R1552. If you want to save money on your build you could use this as your permanent GPU, as it can play the most demanding games currently at 1080P with playable frame rates, however it will not offer the same amount of future proofing and will give you fewer frames per second when compared to the HD7850.

Question concerning my hard drives - Installed windows 7 on my 500gb sata and had my 40gb & 80gb as slaves. I know that boot files get stored on the other drives, can I just delete the boot files off the slave drives and then take them out of the PC and everything will be fine? Or should I format all the hard drives and do a fresh install with only my main hard drive in? (Hope my question makes sense)

That would only be the case if you had Windows already installed on one drive and then installed another OS onto the second drive that also wrote over the boot loader files. You should be able to just take those drives out without hassle, unless you have an OS installed on one of them and multi-boot between OSes.

When I got my 2TB - I wanted to take my 40gb out and when I did, my pc wouldn't boot until i put the 40gb back in.

If I reveal hidden files on my 40gb - it has the following on it:

Boot.bak
RHD Setup
OEM Settings - OEM.tmp

Yes, I would, special mention must go to RebelTech and Solid Computing, they always have great customer service and are very reliable. The only store that I haven't had experience from is DigitalSushi, mainly as I didn't see a need to buy from them, but there don't seem to be any relatively bad reviews on HelloPeter.

Pretty much all SSD's include a 2,5" to 3,5" bracket for these issues, you should be fine

Just did some Googling...that drive does not come with a 3.5" bay....can someone please point me to a suitable product, or should I rather buy a more expensive drive that includes the bay by default?

The bracket costs around R80, just request one when ordering. Alternatively, Corsair drives do have these brackets in their boxes
