I had to postpone my installation, since I might be moving, but my account is active already.

What are you using your line for (ie: youtube, gaming, downloading, skyping, browsing etc)

How much cap (as in 100/!, 200gb) do you pull each month on the uncapped lines?
I was on the 3mbps capped connection previously. Have a thread here somewhere with some speedtests and stuff. I used mine for online gaming mainly and then mail downloads, updates, skype, youtube and browsing...

What I want to know from Xflint is do you use news servers?

The horror coz i have a dedicated network room with 24 network cables in the house. These to feed Smart Tv's and the wifi network. 3g is not an option as I also download HD movies to feed the TV's from my server.

They did my site test a few days after contacting them. I was connected a few weeks later. I also took the VOIP option for phone calls.

I have the R799 uncapped 3mbps option. Speeds are good after hours usually peaking around 380 KBps and I would say an average of 320. Usage is about 50 gig per month with a peak of 93 gig.

Primary uses are browsing, connecting to an overseas VPS, youtube and the downloading. I have tried skype once and it worked fine.

There was an initial problem with the VOIP, but they fixed it up the next day. Currently there is no line rental (I hope they dont introduce it) and my call cost per month is less than R50.

I only remember been offline for a day or 2 when they were doing emergency maintenance on the high site.

I am a casual gamer playing COD Modern warfare 3 occasionally - The uncapped option is not ideal, but it works.

So at the price and what you get - Kudos to Amobia

Good to see all the great feeback. It seems that when a company knows what they're doing, WiFi is a very viable last-mile option. Even - to a degree - for gaming. With Telkom dragging their heels on ADSL infrastructure upgrades we'll probably be seeing a lot more of these types of offers in future. I hope that the other wireless service providers are taking note of Amobia's customer service levels though.

One question I would like to propose to them is that if / and when Telkom do upgrade the 384 lines to 1mb (1 June 2012), will Amobia upgrade the packages as well or will they introduce a higher uncapped package (say 6mb) and reduce the cost of the 1mb and 2mb uncapped products?

Yip, as prices of ADSL bandwidth are once again dropping, I'd like to know that too.

Had this issue with directly using news.mweb.co.za the other day. Had to use the IP 196.28.182.50 and it worked.

If not contact Mweb Guy in the ADSL section for maybe an alternative IP address.

I know the news server works as I did a download on the second day I had the account oh and also earlier.

Weird. Using xsusenet, it works only in SabNZB client and only on SSL. mweb normal address and given IP not working.
The rest of clients just don't see any servers.
