Default The Proteas - Our Team!

This is where we can discuss issues between tours, where we then create specific threads!

Ok so what's next on the agenda?
We'll start a new thread on the English tour as soon as the squad announced.
We've got the batting and boowling situation pretty much decided.
Would like to see 1 or 2 new faces getting a call up.

It depends on how big a squad they will be taking to England...

Will they go for 3 separate squads?

As was the case in NZ some of the guys who do T20 duty leave the country as soon as they're done, but you'll basically have a core group of 5 who do duty in all 3.

220 last night might not have been enough

Gambhir was on fire and the pitch was a belter.

Kudos to Chris Scott, unfortunately the rain spoilt what could have been an awesome chase.

Indian bowling unit looked very poor...

    Now for the Poms...

English conditions should suit our attack.. Saffers are better on paper.

Very possible, just that the schedule is the opposite of the NZ tour... tour is from 9 July to 12 September, kicking off with the Tests and friendlies (4x 2-dayers), then the ODI's and lastly the T20's.

Which makes it a lot easier for the 14 guys that get chosen for the Tests.Get those results out of the way, because that is the crux of the tour.
Get those specialist test players to return home and replace with ODI/Pro 20 blokes.
Botha,Levi,Robbie P etc will only see English action in late August.

No-one... most players are off to India for the IPL.

I reckon they would have. Even though the Indians were going strong, chasing at that rate for duration is pressure.

Parnell was looking good with the ball. A few dots or tight overs and the pressure in the batsman's head would become immense.

All we needed was 2 tight overs and it would have put massive pressure back on India.

Very difficult to predict T20 games....

Default Graeme Smith to undergo ankle surgery

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafr...ry/559468.html

Graeme Smith, South Africa's Test captain, will undergo surgery on his left ankle that has been troubling him with chronic pain over the previous two months. The decision was arrived at after consultation with Cricket South Africa's ankle specialist, who detected an impingement syndrome of the ankle, South Africa team manager Mohammad Moosajee said.

"Graeme went to see CSA's ankle specialist in Cape Town on Friday and he confirmed that the best management of the chronic pain in his ankle is surgery," Moosajee said in a CSA release. "The recovery period after such a surgery usually takes eight to ten weeks, and he will subsequently not be able to represent Pune Warriors at the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League in India."

The surgery will be performed next Tuesday, to allow Smith enough time to make a full recovery in time for South Africa's tour of England in July. "My ankle has been troubling me for some time so it will be a relief to have it repaired, especially looking ahead to the crucial year of cricket ahead," Smith said.

"I'm very disappointed to be missing out on the IPL this year. I was looking forward to my second season with Pune Warriors, especially after my knee set me back last season."

Smith had played four games in the 2011 IPL, before an injury to his right knee - picked up during a collision with his team-mate Rahul Sharma while fielding against the now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala franchise - ruled him out. He eventually underwent surgery on the knee last July.
His IPL franchise isn't going to be too happy with this. Get strong soon, Biff.
