Post Telkom Sales: MWEB 4 Mbps is not 10 Mbps like ours is

I have just been told by a Telkom sales rep that my exchange is a 10 mbps exchange - this is good. She also told me that I should order a 4 Mbps line through Telkom because such a line will perform at 10 Mbps if it runs through a 10 Mbps exchange but a 4 Mbps line ordered from MWEB will not - it will only be 4 Mbps.

    Is this true?

Yes, Telkom will not restrict you if you on a 10mb exchange where as if you buy a Mweb 4MB account you will be limited to a 4 MB line speed.
nothing to see here move along....

I was considering getting the 15GB 4096kbps all Incl. package.

I haven't ordered anything, yet, and I'm seriously considering Web Africa again, since they have made their deals better.

If he moves his line over to Mweb and pays for a 4Mb line (not data), it will be the same as any other 4Mb line (up to 10Mbps). If his data package with Mweb is limited to 4Mb, then he will only be able to reach 4Mbps on that account. However, he would still be able to reach 10Mbps if he buys capped data or upgrades to a 10Mbps account.

    Hope this makes it clearer...

My router syncs at > 4Mbps... it varies... sometimes 6, sometimes 7 (I am quite far from the exchange)
But I only get 4096 or as close as dammit to it. Am happy, because that's what I pay for
