Telkom boosts voice service with free value-add offerings

This is a complete Ripoff if you think about it, even if it is for mobile calls.

R80.00 for 60 Minutes = R1.33 per minute.

On my Closer Plan 3, I pay R1.40 per Minute for Mobile (Including VAT) During peak hours,
so that's a whopping 7c per minute saving!

The huge "snag" comes in when you consider that Off-Peak mobile calls only cost me R1.14
per minute inc VAT, so I'd be losing 19c for every minute.

On Top of all this, with Closer Plan 3, Mobile calls are billed per second, instead of per minute.

The way this influences my life, the headline should be "Telkom adds more bloat to ADSL lines".

But really, other than businesses, old people, and those without mobile reception, who still uses a landline?

The people who want to have a conversation with a good quality connection which does not require repeating everything and shouting.

Thing is, for people who don't know much aboout technology (VOIP etc) will just end up paying the extra R80 thinking it's a bargain.

I'm sure most of telkom subscribers (ADSL and Line rental aside) use Telkom as ISP's due to ignorance. So when they see a special from Telkom, they sign up thinkin it's the best deal they can get.
