so i'm trying to set up a gmail account that forwards emails to my cellphone as SMSs.
strangely it doesn't work, anyone know why?
gmail forwarding works, and 082*******@voda.co.za also works...
but they don't work together![]()

Maybe the gmail servers have been blocked because of spamming? Can you send from your gmail account to the sms mail server?
yeah i can.
if i manually send an email (from a gmail account) to 082*@voda.co.za i recieve the sms.
Just a guess but it might have something to do with the length of the emails youre receiving. Set up forwarding and send yourself a one-word email to the gmail account and see if that gets forwarded as an sms.
nope.
man this is a mystery.
u only get 5 free 082*@voda.co.za msges per day AFAIK, 160 characters only and no subject line.
There are 10 types of ppl in the world those who understand binary and those who dnt ......
irrelevant i think.Originally Posted by ic
this sounds complicated but it's kinda simple:
i got 3 gmail accounts (A, B, C)
A - to send with
B - forwards mail
C - recieves mail
first i sent mail directly to 082*@voda.co.za and recieved it on my phone immediately. then i set mailbox B to forward to mailbox C and it worked obviously. then i set mailbox B to forward to 082*@voda.co.za which didn't work![]()
(all mail sent from mailbox A)
yeah... i got no clue why it doesn't work...
not that either...Originally Posted by Gunny

If you forward a message it could contain email information that is incompatible with the email to sms service.

Can anyone assist with a solution to forwarding emails to my cellphone as an SMS? Gmail is asking for a verification code, but I doubt the request has reached Vodacom as an SMS.
Don't put your email address as your name. You will have all those sex-crazed bb'ers inviting you to their place to check their routers
