Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S review

Can the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S make us forget about the lacklustre predecessor?

What is this, a late April fool's joke?! Why in the world would you be reviewing this now?

Sure have a lot of time to spare.

I imported my Arc S for roughly R4200 incl shipping which was way cheaper than the galaxy 2 and Note. The review makes it seem as if the reviewer is biased towards SE phones. E.g. the Arcishness of the phone doesn't bother me at all. The screen works great - might not be AMOLED but it's still very clear and I run it at half brightness 24/7. Everything is quite responsive, touch screen is wonderful IMO. Can't wait for the ICS upgrade coming in a few days! I'm really loving this phone. Wouldn't have minded more storage space on the internal memory though!

I have an oooold Sony Ericsson. It serves me well.

The Xperia arc didn’t impress us and the Xperia arc S does little more than its predecessor.

There are much better smartphones available at present that retail for a lot less.
I still like the design of this handset... in any case, it would be an upgrade for me... a place filler between my SE W980i and the Sony Xperia S.

    One day.

Is a phone not a phone not a phone at the end of the day if all it is really used for is making / receiving calls ? I am too old school for my own good I am told.

Seriously, SonyEricsson. I thought they have disappeared last year already WhoTF still bothers with them.

A late review on something insignificant. Average phone at a high price. Saw that reading just through the specs...

After the Xperia X10 debacle, I have sworn off Sony Ericsson phones for life.

They don't have a good development cycle, they treat their customers like cr@p and they make odd phones!

    Bring on the S3 tbh

    + A few.

Their phones still look great, but unlike the X10, performance is nowhere near the competition. They've just given up, so I gave up on them as well.
So y'all need to hide yo uzis, hide yo assault rifles and hide yo bazookas 'cos they disarmin' everybody out here!

Seems to be a biased and poorly researched review.

*Vodacom is currently retailing this phone for R4800 on prepaid
*Why all the references to Android 4 and how much better it is. Are we reviewing the operating system or the phone. At least this phone will get the ics upgrade soon anyway.
*Please compare apples to apples. Of course this phone cannot compare to the Note and Nexus. Rather evaluate it against its competitors please, for example the SG Splus or Razr or something similar.

This is also not a new phone, but it currently offers very good value for money on contract offers. Very few of us can afford to buy phones like this straight out.

Rather review something new like the Xperia S which will probably be more relevant.

This phone was released September 2011, and why review it now? Surely you should be reviewing Sony xperia S which lands in SA in 2 weeks time???

I agree, I already have an Xperia S, although it was sourced from the UK !

Wow what a biased article, the xperia arc s was a awesome in between high-midranger when launched but that was a long time ago this article is extremely late.....how about an xperia s review?Or will MYBB wait for the galaxy s3 to be announced then only review the xperia s and say the specs are old etc?

I have a SONY bias when it comes to phones based on their designs, sure I'm using a galaxy note right now but the xperia arc s is no where close price wise and looks better...they can be had on contract quite cheap and that makes them worth it!
