But I don't want anyone to install for me... in fact I want someone to come and remove my dish!![]()
BS.
I had a PVR + Dual view installed, the installer broke a pipe in my roof that caused my kitchen ceiling to bulge and become very discoloured. Cost me about R2,500 to get that fixed.

just install the thing yourself. Easy to do.
Nope, look where your neighbor is aiming , aim same place and watch on the signal bar in the setup menu.

the meter is dirt cheap to get R250, then you can install dish wherever you want.

Quality of workmanship se voet....I had to redo a bloody installation an "accredited installer" did because he fscked it up properly, and the cabling in my roof was a nightmare thanks to him... (granted I also had to do the same for an alarm company that came in and screwed everything up as well but hey)
Oh and this "complex product" thing is bollocks... its a dish and some cables.. point the dish in the right direction, run cables and plug it in.. then phone the call centre and get them to activate.
actually it isn't so easy to get the right angle direction as you think, with that meter it's easier.

I always thought Multichoice accreditation meant you scratch our back, we scratch yours by maintaining the monopoly we have and fixing the prices even before the actual set-top box is plugged in.
Quality of workmanship se donkey!
Which would you rather pay.... R1000+ for someone to come and install and makes a complete dogsbollocks of the wiring and just do a messy job? Or spend a few hours yourself plus a few hundred ronds to get the meter and cable and such yourself?
I am going to have to replace the dish at my house in the next year or so, and i'll be doing that myself thank you very much.. at least I know the quality of the workmanship will be up to MY standards and not MC's pathetic idea of what quality workmanship is.
So which one is it, a must use or recommended ?Installers must use recommended equipment...
My LNB was blown by a lightning strike. Since the insurance were paying I had to use an 'official' installer.
I must admit to being pleasantly surprised when the guy pitched, clutching a device that looked like an oscilloscope, which he then used to align the dish/LNB.
The device made it so much easier for me to check his work ...![]()
I'm ashamed to say there was a time when we advocated the use of "accredited" installers - http://www.blog.mydstv.org/?p=74
