Thread: iPad won't sync (iOS 5.1 / iTunes 10.6)

    Default iPad won't sync (iOS 5.1 / iTunes 10.6)

    Hi Peeps

I have an issue with the iPad 2; it won't sync any music.

I have tried various suggested solutions found on the web, but so far none seem to resolve the issue.

After each song an "Unknown Error (-5000)" pops up and then the bloated piece of malware sits there patiently waiting to torment me some more.

Everything else seems to work fine.

Any suggestions besides the nearest dustbin?

I would backup all music and apps under My Music, just those folders and then remove itunes all-to-gether and reinstall from scratch.

there are a bunch of itunes files under My Music\iTunes - I had to remove those once when I was having syncing issues.

Did the above as suggested but still no fix (everything except music syncs fine). Don't understand. I want to hurt my iPad...

I would then try and sync 1/4 of your music at a time or maybe try syncing a - d then check, then e - i etc.

Might be corrupt files, I know sometimes my pdf docs get corrupted and refuse to sync properly.

When did this start happening? After an upgrade?

    Was it ever working before?

    What OS?

Have you disabled UAC if on Windows Vista/7?

Tried running iTunes as administrator? (right click, Run as admin)

    Latest iTunes?

Tried advice here under "Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows)" ? - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297

    Tried this? - http://www.yourlocaltech.com/resolve...other-devices/

Try uninstalling and rolling back to an old version of iTunes - http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php

Got it to sync at home after following the advice of an IT guy that does work for the company I am employed by.

Strangely, before the fix i was once able to sync 3 albums with the latest iTunes

Turns out iTunes doesn't like redirected folders. Had to remove from "My Music (which itself is synced to an onsite server)" to a folder under C: then pointed iTunes in the right direction. Now works flawlessly... go figure.

Thanks for all the advice though..

Every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger

Hey, I did some tweaking on my iPad 2 like uncheck some songs, syncing it to iTunes and then checking them again and resyncing. This has helped me. Try it and see.
