I'm still a student/worker so I will finish my studies and then pay my student load with absa, then maybe go over to FNB, me wants to earn some E-bucks.![]()

After being with nedbank for almost 2 decades ... I moved to FNB last year - business and private accounts.
Seriously one of the better decisions in my life. FNB is the gold standard in my books.
My Absa private one facility is costing me R400 per month, roughly.
My FNB platinum account costs R110 I think. An FNB One account is R275pm.
The charges on an FNB Home Loan are around R57pm.
So yes, a lot cheaper.
My absa private banker is a pillock. I have to threaten him with calling his boss before I get a response.
Well, I originally had an account with ABSA when I was still a school kid. Well i was actually with one of the 4 banks that merged to become the bank we now know as ABSA. Anyways as a student at one point I had less than R100 in my savings account, and at one point they decided to close my account.
So then when I started working part time on the side while studying, and needed an account, a friend suggested FNB, at the time they were the first and only with SMSs when anything you do on your account (inContact) so I was like, thats cool and signed up. Never looked back since.
Even after I finished my studies, and started working, they automatically picked up that I graduated and suggested I move from my student banking account to a Graduate portfolio account, which had some cool benifits ect, out of their own. Costed me no time at all.
Best bank since then till now, as long as they stay ahead of the curve like they currently do, they will have me as a client.
ps. This same friend that suggested FNB to me, also said, you shouldn't be loyal to a bank, you should always go with the best offer, be it lowest banking fees, higher/est interest rates, whichever works out the best at that point in time, is who you should be with. Very much like people move between ISPs. Vote with your wallet.
Few people can see the genius in someone who has offended them.
