The prices of Intel Processors seem to have dropped a lot now. Celeron D's and Pentium D's are now very good value for money.

The highest Celeron D (3,2GHz) now costs the same as the almost entry level Sempron 2800+ (1.6GHz)...

Who ever thought that Intel would become the value brand?

Competition is good, hope Telkom gets some soon.

I'll never go back to Intel especially for a gaming machine...AMD will follow the price cuts soon anyway....

amd amd amd amd.....sorry AMD AMD AMD AMD....:)

AMD + MOTHER BOARD + GRAPHICS CARD = VERY GOOD GAMING:D

INTEL + MOTHER BOARD + GRAPHICS CARD = ................

I know we have all had this "discussion" many times. Though I've always used Intel for all my gaming machines, and I always keep up.. if not out perform most AMD users.

I was looking at building my first ever water cooled AMD system later this year, since its cheaper to over clock an AMD, than build an Intel rig of the same specs..but with the new pricing.. Seems like I'll stick to Intel again

EVERYBODY HAS THERE FAVORATES;)

Well. Of course AMD still beats everything in the highend and for gaming. Its in the value segment for basic home and office computers where Intel is now a very good option. Maybe even in low budget gaming. I'd love to be able to compare a 3,2 Celeron D agaisnt the 1.6GHz Sempron and if I had a cash I would....

For the price of one X2 3800+ your can now buy 2 ( ) of the slower Pentium D 805s.

PCformat did a comparison test some months ago. I sent the book to a friend of mine to read, but I'll ask him for it back and try scan in the pages.

It was touch and go for most of them, AMD won when it came to over-clocking. (except for one processor, which I cant remember now think it was the Pentium D 805s, but it was a low end Intel that they took to over 4.0 ghz with no problems at all). Intel won though on value for money (again except on the higher end CPU's, but AMD faired much worse in that regard)

why spend so much on water cooling rather buy a bigger cpu

if you ask me having your cpu running 20-25 degrees or 40-50

make no difference what so ever

biggest waste of money

overclocking hmmmm really worth the effort for a 2% increase?

telkom thats not true merc and bmw are both good just personal preference with that one

its a proven fact amd kicks the crap outta intel

Killadoob, if it runs cooler you can have a quieter PC. But knowing you and your household fan method you subscribe too, that doesn't matter much to you :p

lol naaa i got a new box now so its fine hahahahah

yea but wouldnt a faster cpu be worth a little noise

Ag, I never crapped you out, I just stated that its not the best perfomance in all situations, it certainly has a good performance to cost value after THIS price decrease.

Even the Celeron D's, and like I said, I'd love to compared them myself.

celeron D vs semptron

no contest same sorta pricing

intel must rather close down than release expensive rubbish

AMD for president

Damn killa. you seriously making me spend money I don't have (luckily I guess) so find out the truth.

Is a Sempron 2800+ (1.60GHz, 256K L2 Cache, 754-Pin Processor, 64 BIT) faster or slower or equal to a Celeron-D 351J (3.20GHz CPU, 256K, 533FSB, LGA775-EM64T)?

The prices are exactly the same, and the prices for the entry level motherboards too. Even the DDR and DDR2 only has a R10 difference.

I'm an AMD guy through and through but I've got a sneaky suspition that they are going to have their a$$es handed to them when Intel bring out the Conroe. These price decreases could be the start of the Intel comeback.

can the sampron be faster then the celeron. i mean there is 1.6 ghz defferance. or say 400mhz if amd 2800+ = intel 2.8.

so for budged pc's its bet to go for sempron....?

i only know that athlon 64 beats pentium 4....and thats it.
