It was the first time they've play together. Gerrard played like crap the whole game. I'd really like to see Shelvey get a chance to play as the attacking midfielder.

Exactly, so maybe they shouldn't have started together. Lucas wasn't going to last the distance in his first EPL start after coming back, Allen been with the squad for a limited time. Think he should have been introduced from the bench, and Shelvey or perhaps Henderson should have started. That could have made a difference to Gerrard to have another midfielder further up and supporting the attack. Both Lucas and Allen may be too similar in that they prefer to lie deep and do not often break forward. Still time to tweak on it tho.

should have stuck to the squad that won in that europa tie. allen was a bit lost. still to be convinced. saurez was isolated - he needs to play with someone. if someone can explain why we buy strikers and then use them on the wing i would really appreciate that. irritates me no bloody end. without enrique we had no balance. then we use the one left footed player on the right wing i will never understand that. why we don't use people on their positions is mystifying.

i know he wants to play pretty football but if the opposition floods the central midfield you need other options. carrol if an effective option. sterling has been effective on the left wing but alas he didnt even smell the pitch. and he IS a wing!

the one thing that bothers me is the approach of the team when agger got sent off. the shape of the team and attitude of the players went to hell. at that level you should never bend over that badly. should have been more compact even. carra has been a good servant but he is past it. the way lukaku went passed him was embarrassing.

all in all a bad day at the office.

well if the city game and the fact that we playing at home does not motivate the players then we have serious problems. we never had a real manager that gives the players a hairdryer treatment like old fergie. i wonder who BR is going to play in the next 3 games in CB with Skrtl. i hope its the young Uruguyan instead af Carragher. he is dog slow, even and old timer can pass him easily. are we going with an offensive approach or just suck it up and play on the counter. interesting times ahead

As far as I'm aware, Agger is only out for 1 game and not 3 as it was a professional foul.

I though Joe Allen had a good game and his completed passing stats were quite impressive (something like 96%). What made B-Rod bring on both Carragher and Cole heaven only knows as they were both dire!

Allen was class. He knows where he is going to pass the ball before he even gets it.

Trip to Hearts on Thursday hope we can win that one!

Spurs done us 5-0 in Edinburgh at this stage last year, but we drew 0-0 with them back in London so a bit of redemption there at least. But I don't know, I expect we'll be rabbits stuck in the headlights again but lets hope it happens for the first 5 minutes rather than the whole first leg this time.

It's a new manager and a few new players this season from the bunch that won the Scottish cup in May beating Hibs 5-1 in the final. So far this season we have played 3, won 1 and drawn 2, including throwing away a 2 goal half time lead last Saturday to draw 2-2 at home to Inverness. So we are unbeaten and my mates at home are quite happy with the signs pointing to a decent season.
