    Question Magazines?

How many of you still buy magazines every month?

I used to buy a number of magazines a month (subscribed to some) but find myself doing so less and less. These days I get all my news fresh online and am quite disappointed in the shallow articles offered by magazines. When I do buy magazines I page through them once or twice, read maybe one or two articles, and then ditch 'em. Not worth paying for any more.

Is there still a market for magazines? What do they offer that I cannot find online? With tablets these days magazines can go anywhere anyway. Electronic version like Wired is doing the way to go? What do these electronic versions offer that I cannot get elsewhere for free?

Do we still care about one journo's opinion? Haven't most of us by now learned to get many more opinions online from all over instead? When we read reviews aren't we going to several sites to compare outcomes?

Anyone here still keen on Magazines?

I also used to subscribe to quite a few magazines. Recently cancelled the last of them, as I found it mostly like reading old news or not enough depth. The internet clearly changed it for us.

    None what so ever...

I will occasionally glance at a cover in the shop and then go read what I can of the mag online when I get home.

I'm a fan of long-form journalism, so on my iPad I have the Longform app, along with digital subscriptions to Vanity Fair, The Atlantic and Harper's Magazine (not the same as Harper's Bazaar!). I can't think of a single local publication I would still be interested in.
