Smokers and discrimination in the workplace

In the US you can refuse to hire a smoker. Their group medical rates are effected by smokers so smokers cost more to employ. There was a case in the last 24 months that the company won against a smoker they refused to hire based only on the fact that he smokes.

Same will happen here soon I think.

It would also make for a good indicator from the employees point of view as to which companies to ignore when looking for a job. They're probably the same type of companies who requests people to hand them their Facebook login details.

I also notice a lot of the time the people that have issues with the smoking breaks are the same people that constantly wastes everybody's time because they are late for meetings etc.

I'm quite sensitive to 2nd hand smoke, the smell just puts me off and I get a bad first impression.
