Thread: Prepaid data deals, getting no love.

All I know is when I enter *111# and check for prepaid deals I get nothing worthwhile.

I also hate the fact that Vodacom is so selfish when it comes to options. For instance when I extended the 2 Gig + 2 Gig contract deal, there wasn't an option to choose one without a modem, I already have 3 modems now...
    There's also weren't any options for bigger caps. What about a 3Gig + 3Gig or 4Gig + 4Gig?

There just ain't options. No idea why they would want less money out of people...
Atm they only getting R150 out of me per month when it comes to data, when they could of gotten R300. (if there was actually something worth spending that on).

All people want in the end is:
    a. simplicity.
    b. value for money.
    c. minimum risk.
    d. options.

As long as there are promotions instead of real tariff reductions, I'm afraid d will be always limited.

You talk about prepaid deals, but you don't say that 2+2 deal is on 24 motnh contract with OOB risk. Are you confused or trying to confuse us?

The only prepaid deal for now is Internet Starter Pack 100MB/pm x12 with modem.

How come Vodacom has not introduced an uncapped option yet?

Vodacom should sell prepaid data (a promotion maybe) where they sell at R30 per GB. ADSL manages to sell at R19 per GB and that is up to 4mbps.

    Vodacom

    1gb for R99 / 2gb for R149.00 on contract.

    1gb for R279.00 on prepaid.

Why charge prepaid users nearly 2-3times the price?

The problem is, if you run out of the 2GB portion before the end of the 2 months, or before the 1GB nightowl option runs out, you can't buy another 2+1 deal. So, you can't for example buy 4+2 GB @ R300 or something like that. So you either need 2 or 3 sim cards or work very nicely to make sure your bandwidth lasts for 2 months.

I think if both 2GB and night 1GB expire, you can purchase another 2+1. In any case, post your question on 8ta section

Sales people generally think customers are idiots. I would expect better from large corporations.

R1299, that's 2GB of ANYTIME data for R108.25 pm. In any case contracts cannot compare to prepaid but while we are comparing apples to trees 8ta has 120GB for R1800. That's only R150 pm for 10GB!

This, my phone uses data like its going out of fashion, data prices are quite high on prepaid bordering on madness. I do miss the 20Gb offer for R500 or something else that is substantial.

I am so fricking irritated with Vodacom. They dangle the silly carrot maybe now once a year to mop up the PR wars for the hearts and minds of the sizzling summer consumers (well maybe that was a once off) as in the 20GB offering (which the average person couldn't possibly use all up in the allocated time) Then what? several months later no prepaid promos for Data. None. Nada. Nil. Zilch Squat. F-all. A big fat F-all.
Not a way to keep a loyal customer base. In fact as soon as 8ta offers coverage in my area I am gatvol of vodacom FOREVER. I am just sick of spending R500 every 2 weeks for 3Gigs and getting no incentives. I do NOT want a contract. Let me repeat that; DO NOT WANT a contract. Meanwhile, I'll just take my number and go quietly off into the good night. It's no point complaining any more. It's just time to vote with my wallet. Truth be told I should have jumped ship ages ago.

Their yearly figures show they have no problem with customer loyalty, especially on the data side.

What's wrong with the 2 GB special on topup? There's no bill shock on topup. R149 every month for 2 GB instead of effectively R250 every month for 1.5 GB like you're doing.

Don't flame me, I'm all for lower prices, but if it causes congestion due to a sudden influx of new users then everybody loses. Maybe they're planning new deals. I'd hazard a guess that the 20 GB special from the festive season was a test to see how the network could handle heavy loading.

Customer loyalty is very complex. mistreat or disincentive them long enough and they are gone.

TopUp is a contract package as I said I DON'T DO CONTRACTS no matter if its a hybrid or whatever.
