I do indeed remember...

The 1992 referendum was held in South Africa on 17 March of that year. In it, white South Africans[1] were asked to vote in the country's last whites-only referendum to determine whether or not they supported the negotiated reforms begun by State President F.W. de Klerk two years earlier, in which he proposed to end the apartheid that had been started in 1948. The result of the election was a large victory for the "yes" side, which ultimately resulted in apartheid being lifted.

This is really interesting. 68.73% voted towards reform.
I never knew that. Granted I was only 5 at the time.

Cape Technikon was in its second year of being open for all races. The non-whites were encouraged to support their white counterpart in doing the right thing.

I was also in my 1st year at Cape tech.

Sigh . Yes I did vote. Was my first vote.
We did not have many options then as our backs was against the wall with the rest of the world against us.

I went with my dad to vote in this. The polling booth was in some tannies kitchen! Even then, at 9 years the irony made me smile.
