I never knew that. Granted I was only 5 at the time.
I wonder what that vote would be today?
White people would all be dead. I was about 11 at the time, I remember having to do civil unrest drills, glad kids today don't have to go through that.

Sigh . Yes I did vote. Was my first vote.
We did not have many options then as our backs was against the wall with the rest of the world against us.
I went with my dad to vote in this. The polling booth was in some tannies kitchen! Even then, at 9 years the irony made me smile.
No one gives an [expletive]... unless you can describe your problem effectively.
