I remember going to look at Airwolf when it was at Durban. I took a whole bunch of photos. Ironically all the children were more interested in the helicopter than Jan-Michael Vincent. Poor guy just stood there...

The 1st season was good but by season 3 you could see that he was drunk on set quite often.

Was there @ Verwoerdburgstad, or actually at the cricket grounds (Centurion Park) where it landed. Wasn't called Supersport Park back then.

Remember the Checkers sign on it as well.

I can also remember going to see it as a 'laaitie' when it came to Cape Town, Parow area ... I think it landed somewhere close to where Shoprite Park is today

I have absolutely no idea where the photos got stored

    It landed at Ottery hypermarket.
Apparently some 19 year old kid was flying it.

Was a bit of a let down.
Guns on it were obviously fake and it sounded normal.

The only chopper that sounds good is a Huey.

Watched Jay Leno interview Bryan Cranston(Breaking Bad) and they showed a clip of him on Airwolf.
Also, the helicopter that came to SA was the standard Bell helicopter and not the modified one that the show had.
Lost interest when Airwolf went to space and became a spook.

I also remember this. I was still in school and it was great to see our "hero" in real life. I was too young to realize that it could not do all the things it did on t.v. I was a great day for me. Also in Verwoerdburgstad.

@Absinthe you are right, Checkers did own it then a consortium of businessmen bought it one being Jan van Heteren of Madikwe fame. He took me for a flip when they visited the Tulip Block in Botswana. Must have been around 1986 or 1987. It was a Bell 222 and could loop.
