Thread: Neotel connection speed shocking

Thumbs down Neotel connection speed shocking

After I upgraded to the new Neo-prime plus package I've been struggling with really bad data connections to the point where it is unusable. On average I get 50kbps download and 20kbps upload speeds.

The location is in Northwold in Randburg; I have an external antenna installed by Poyntin and the setup was inspected by the Neotel technical.

What now? I cannot use this. I get between 1.5-2.5 Mbps with Vodacom and MTN in the same location with no external antenna to boost it.

I tried the Neodata card in Woodmead area and could only get 500/400 kbps download/upload speeds. Is this the best Neotel can provide?

The phone option of Neotel is working OK BUT I am totally dissatisfied with the data side.

It could be the size of your antenna... As all data cards feature an internal antenna the ability to modulate and deliver good speeds with low signal is diminished. If they have a device with a bigger antenna for data try that you'de most probably get better speeds... Same if you add a booster it does two things makes the device think it's closer to a tower so it gets better U/l & D/l speeds plus the device doesnt have to work hard at modulating a much better signal level...
