@ 8ta,
what is the best mifi device for a 8ta 10Gig promo contract?
When my 8ta micro-sim was in my iPad, i was constantly getting around 10Mbps download and upto 15Mbps uploads, but i had to install it in a Huawei E172 plugged into my Telkom ADSL USB Port to get wireless access for my other devices. Now i'm only seeing D/L speeds of like 1 - 2 Mbps and uploads are slower as well.
I've tried several different USB Sticks, but only that E172 works, later models aren't supported by my 810VGTx router.
I see the iStore has the Hauwei mifi for R1499, but not sure if the 8ta sim will be at it's fastest.
I'm looking for the fastest download possible on a mifi, or even another router that takes the sim card.
ta,
Darryl
Hi Darryl!
We unfortunately do not stock any MiFi devices and have subsequently not tested any as yet.
Maybe our forum users can provide suggestions? We stock Huawei devices and those would most likely work.

@ 8ta,
I recently got involved with a 10g plus midnight surfer, and a new microSIM from the telkomdirect store in Carletonville (here for work and figured there was no way there would be a store or decent coverage). I was very impressed with the speed of my application, especially since I am foreign. The SIM swap also went without a hitch, I opted to buy a modem as well. MicroSIM is working in both the new ipad and the 3g dongle - nice and quick - up to 10mbps dl on ipad and 2.5ish on dongle. My only issue is with the tethering/wifi hotspot capability of the new ipad... I have seen the question keep popping up since the device came out, and I know from experience that Vodacom has the same issues. Looking at the dates in this post, it seems to have been a concern for quite some time...Do you have any news regarding when this service will be enabled i.e. you will be registering (or whatever it is you have to do) with apple so that we get the updated APN settings, through itunes, to support the hotspot? Its not the end of the world, when the untethered jailbreak for ios 6 comes out there are utilities/tweaks which will allow this, but in the meantime its a bit of a mission to take sim out, and put it in the pc, just so that i can use my midnight surfer bundles.
Let me know!
Cheers,
John
Hi John!
We have seen your post when it was logged and are following up with our people about tethering on the iPad, but we are unable to get a clear answer as to when this service will be active. We know that this is being discussed, but due to a number of variables, they are unable to supply us with a date. We will be pushing them for an answer and will provide feedback once we have some direction.

Hi John
We've been referred to the statement on mybroadband:

When engaging with Apple, they have informed us that they will come back to us when ready.

Hi John
We have a thread about dual SIMs. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthre...30#post9153630
We have this product on our rollout plan, but we are not sure when it will happen.

When are you guys getting stock of the microsim that works in the new iPad at Gateway?
They don't have stock and don't know when they are getting, and my 60+60 sim I got in July has stopped working (says invalid sim in my iPad after seeing the signal for a minute or two). I've had fun with 8ta since July, but I'm thinking of selling the leftover data in my 8ta bundle and just getting the new Cell C deal as I'm still waiting for 3G in La Lucia's Sunningdale (your tower in Feb 2013 is still too far away)
Hi 8ta, please could you assist locating a store that sells Micro SIMs in Gauteng, I can't find a store that has stock.
Need to analyse your company cell phone voice and data usage? Go to www.visibill.co.za for a solution.
Thanks I replied.
Pavilion isn't an option, and like I said the iStore doesn't keep 8ta sims anymore as they said they were tired of the crap by never having stock of the correct sims for iPad either.
Cell C has their Giga 200 package, and I've never had to wait to get sims from them. I've been praising 8ta since I signed up in July, but it seems you guys are slipping.
As expected, no calls from 8ta at Gateway about replacement sims after all this time.
Your service was good, and now it's shockingly bad like MTN and Vodacom. Your PM to me also told me to go to Pavilion to pick it up, and when I called the branch they said they had no stock.
Sorry 8ta. I used to recommend you to people that asked because you had good prices, but honestly, no one gives a damn about that when you don't have customer support. Until Cell C mess up, they will be my preferred provider.
