None of my irl friends use forums, but I've met people from another forum for drinks. At least one of them is on mybb too.
Although I am all over the internet by my real credentials, I quickly discovered, in this forum, anonymity is a must. Even more so if you hold a fairly 'well oiled' government job and you very critical of the ruling party.
