Nokia credit rating downgraded to “junk”

Cellphone maker Nokia Oyj had its credit rating cut to “junk” status by ratings agency Standard & Poor’s on Friday, its second downgrade to non-investment grade status this week as the company battles falling sales and doubts over its product strategy.

They should've went with Android. I know that its good to have variation, but they were not in a position to choose, Android would have been the clear choice...but thats what u get when your new CEO comes straight from Microsoft.

Just look at what Android did for Samsung.

I fully agree with you. To put all their eggs into Microsoft's unravelling basket was extremely disingenuous. They should've hedged their bets by going with both Android and WP7. There are lots of people who despise Microsoft but would definitely have gone for a Nokia/Android phone (like me).

They only have themselves to blame.

amazing how a few peoples decisions, when they have power, can ruin a whole multi national company.

I would have bought a nokia android phone before a samsung one two years ago. Nowdays, I won't touch one.

Also, there was actually a nokia android in development, but it was canned late on, there are some photos on the interweb.

WM7 is probably philosophically closer to Symbian and therefore fits with the Nokia mindset of having phones that are retarded by non-responsive illogical menus.

Given my mostly hate relationship with Nokia's Symbian OS and several disappointing Nokia phones, I doubt I would even have considered getting an Android Nokia phone: I strongly suspect that Nokia would find a way of stuffing up an Android Nokia phone.

It is sad though that Nokia has allowed itself to fall so far from grace, Nokia was the "Apple" of the cellphone industry before Apple unleashed the iPhone.

Now theres a bitch flap if you ever saw one. lol

I have to agree here. I grew up where nokia was THE phone to get but since android busted nokia's face I doubt I will ever get a nokia. I had a HTC Desire, Motorola Defy [love this phone omg], LG optimus one and various Huawei phones and I tell you what I love android. Its seems that the phone brand is irrelevant actually. I just check which phone gets more support in terms of the latest version of android.

I doubt going with Android would have helped Nokia at all, all the other manufactures that went with Android besides Samsung are in just as much trouble.

The choice of OS that runs on the new Nokia phones is irrelevant to their current downgrading of credit if you ask me. It was going to happen regardless, but its also somewhat expected since they're trying to break into a market that they've had limited success in, in the last decade.

Yes Nokia made great feature phones, but the majority of their smartphones haven't been anything to write home about. WP7 though is a damn good OS and I personally think it was the right choice for Nokia in the long run.

I also believe Nokia should have gone with Android. They could have tweaked it to hearts desire to make it their own OS and even brought it and Meego closer to one OS.

Nokia plus MIUI ... would make for fantastic devices.

There was a time when I would not touch a Motorola but now with phones like the RAZR ,the same can be said for Nokia which at one point was my only phone of choice.
    Amazing how tastes can change.
