Once the shipping and import duties are added it's not much better than local prices IMO.
On top of it there can be problems with regards to support/warranty.

I'm not sure what the current import duties are but I once imported a bridge camera from New York and ended up paying close to 40% extra in shipping and import duties.

Now if only there was some news about the 650D.
