Default 8ta SIM in Vodacom branded USB modem

Can anybody tell me if this will work and if so how.

I bought the internet starter pack thats on promotion from Vodacom. My thinking was to buy the modem and then buy the 2gigs of data that they currently have on promo. The lady then told me I cannot do that. So I thought fsck it, I'll just buy an 8ta sim and use their promo instead. I then bought the 2+1gig data from 8ta.

Will it work if I use the modem on 8ta? Can I just download 8ta's dashboard thingamab? Its actually for my wife who needs internet on the move

Get the stock software dashboard for your device here:

Yes it will work. No modem or cellphone may be network locked in South Africa which means that you can use any SIM in any device and it should work.

Hang on, what model do they sell with the Internet Starter Pack? I don't have it with me at the moment. I want to download the stock software as lcbxx advises.

edit: Can someone confirm whether its the ZTE K3570z?

I'm having massive issues here. Just can't get this to work.

By the way this is the k3772-z modem. Could anybody get this to work?

OP can't connect to 8ta, as Vodafone software doesn't allow this.

One solution is to exit vodafone software (make sure icon is not present on the taskbar). Open vodafone software, go to option and select:
    - Do not load at startup, and
    - Unload from memory on exit.
Then go to network connections and dial connection created by vodafone. No changes in settings.

There is one things to verify in the software before dialing. APN settings stored in the modem should be "internet" (no quotes). Or download mdma and fillup APN field.

OK, I've got it sort of connected. I only realize now I've not converted the airtime to data!

I have a Vodafone branded Huawei modem. Simply had to update the firmware with the latest ones on Huawei's site and install Huawei's dashboard app. Didn't even have to input any settings, the software detected everything automatically. It's easier to connect to 8ta with Huawei's software than 8ta's Connect software.
VHS/MiniDV/Hi8 to DVD and LP/Audio Cassette to CD conversions. PM me.
