Default MTN is not very honest

I have post this some where else also , but feel I should do it on this site also . May be then some one can help me with my serious problem ????

Now I know why MTN is such a rich company !!! They steal every day from unexpected new customers ?? I wanted to change from iBurst to MTN and bought a fast link on line on 2 march 2012 from MTN . This was delivered on 6 March 2012 and immediately activated as indicated by MTN . It only got RICA on 13 March 2012 .Then I still was not able to connect to any internet program.

With the help from another forum member on 16 March 2012 (evening) I got my settings correct and was able to use my new faster MTN modem.

The end of March I got a invoice for an amount of R184.97 . That was more than my original contract amount of R149.00 . Yet did not report it immediately . Payment went of my bank account on 30 March . On 16 April I again receive an invoice in the mail for an amount due of R258.04 this was very strange to me and then queried it . After weeks of this info and the nother person giving me other info .

I am today told that on the first month I did not receive my contract 2gb for March (its MTN policy) and the original amount was the mb I used more as my pro rata for March . Only on 14 April I again got another 2gb and the April account was for the amount I went over the 2gb I supposedly received on 14 March 2012 .

I looked in all documents received from MTN on this contract and even their original ad on their website . No where did they mention one only receive firstly a portion of your contracted 2gb on the 13/14th of a month ??? No where did they mention that any one only receive a portion of a contracted 2gb ,pro rata for a few days of a month ?

The interesting part is that when I checked my MTN usage report yesterday for the first time since I stopped using it on 20 April 2012 . It showed I got 2gb for March and another 2 gb for April 2012 According to my usage report I used 1840.63 mb for March and 1098.33 for April 2012 . Yet the invoices is for almost 1.3 gb that I went over my allocated amount of 2 gb .

Can any one explain such crazy policy to me ????? Then may be I can stop thinking that MTN is the largest bunch of crooks I have ever had the not to pleasant dealings with . In 45 years ?????

They are. Get rid of them. Move on. I had 1gb prepaid with them, and for a few months they kept charging me for using my 1gb

here is your first problem you working on the assumption that MTN can measure your data correctly on time, they cant it takes them a day or 2 (or3or 4 - see where I'm going here?) to process, so the chances are you usage report is a little off (sucks I know)
secondly they never seem to work on a proper 1- 30/31 month all of us on mtn (data and voice) bill runs on a specific day, yours 15th or so mines 20th, so my bill gets run on the 20th and my airtime / data gets allocated on the 21st - wait till it comes to paying via debit order that might be the reason I'm a little insane.

so to answer your question no we cant explain their crazy policy, and I dont think they know how to either

may I suggest you (if you haven't already done so) request the data contract be put on as a top up contract so you dont get killed by an OOB shark.
Some times the internet is so slow, it would be faster to just fly to Google's headquarters and ask them this $h1t in person.!

Be glad the amounts was small, and not hefty amounts......

Is the 10 Commandments for Christians?

To follow up . I received a call from Somayya Akhalwaya [ CIM ]
3 May (11 days ago) and this mail at the same day .

Promising that my usage will be corrected and my account credited . When I checked my usage report on Saturday 12 may it was still the same as on the 1 May 2012 and it still show that I am using my modem since I stopped using it on the 20 th April 2012 .

I only connected it the 1 st May and again on 12 th May to check the usage report . That was in both cases not more than 10 min and I did not open any internet sites . Since 20 April 2012 .

There must be a ghost using my modem. As I am sure not using it ????

Its now getting a serious problem to me as I already downgraded my snail iBurst and if this is not resolved soon I will have a much more serious problem.

My allocated time run from 13th to the 13th of a month . May be that is why I have so much problems ????

If any one know how a person can get hold of any senior person at MTN . Please let me know . May be if I can get hold of a senior person . The problem can be solved soon ???

    Sadly,

    This is standard industry practice.

I am still waiting for my R64,.. that Vodacon pro-rata'ed me on the last few days of some month last year. I returned a modem they had given me (within 24 hours) because it had no coverage. The R64.. was a real shock because I used absolutely none of their data.

To this day I am still waiting for my money.

As for your case, they just make the calculation so complicated I don't think the people at MTN who you deal with actually understand how it works.

You find it everywhere. Thats why I say it is standard industry practice. Even DStv do that and any other service providers - this pro-rata is bollocks, particularly because they practice it the way they want. They change its interpretation so that it takes the most money out of you.

Yes, you are being conned out of your money.

This is indeed the case. Got a contract from MTN about 3 years ago for my wife - it kept going way over the allocated free airtime, and suspected something fishy.

So we got her a Vodacom prepaid sim, and she used that only for a whole 2 months. Eventually the bill came for one of the months totally covered in that period, and it stated that she had used more than R60 of that airtime - without the simcard ever being in a phone once

Unfortunately had to renew as her previous phone had its days.

Luckily the issue seems to have been resolved lately, as she never goes over anymore, unless we make many calls.

And yes, their account balances are always about 5 days behind.

so you suspected they screwed you over, then you proved it, then stuck with them because "Luckily the issue seems to have been resolved".......no wonder companies like MTN will just carry on screwing over customers LMAO
