    Default Kia Optima

So, saw one or 2 of these beauties on the road and decided to have a look at one at the dealership on Worker's Day. I ended up test-driving it up and down the N1 between Midrand and Centurion...

This car is incredible value for money. At R316k you get dual panoramic sunroofs, auto lights / wipers / front seats (with lumbar support), heated AND cooled front seats, all the media inputs you could wish for (except HDMI, sadly... ) and a fun tip-tronic gearbox. It also sings a little tune when you turn it off, inviting you to drive it just a little further... The styling is also miles ahead of its Sonata sibling.

I'm seriously considering trading in my Civic for a pearlescent white Optima... The striking contrast between the black grille and roof and the white body of the car makes it stand out in this colour.

    Why no 2.0T engine? Disappointed.

The 2.4 n/a felt willing enough (coming from me driving a 1.8 n/a at the moment ). I prefer my engines to be n/a - just that extra piece-of-mind with regards to the longevity of the engine and no surprise costs in having to replace a blown turbo in a couple of years. Up here in Gauteng a 'blown or 'charged engine would feel more punchy, but the n/a was really smooth when I drove it.

Yeah I saw one on the road the other day, pretty hot. KIA is making the best looking cars these days.

I don't like the look so much.

Front bumper looks a little odd to me and the rims are too big. The front looks like a smiling clown. It looks like someone took a luxury Mercedes and turned it into a brakpan VW Golf.

Maybe I'm too young to see the appeal and the car is aimed at older richer people.

I would rather drive something like a Nissan 350z or an Audi TT 2.0T FSi S-tronic.

But those aren't luxury sedans, looking at Lexus' luxury sedans they aren't that good looking either. Guess I'm selling the Optima short.

Rather go test drive an Accord.
