Thread: How do I cancel and uninstall opera?

Default How do I cancel and uninstall opera?

I have had my Blackberry Bold 9780 since the beginning of November last year.

I cannot recall downloading or installing opera mini and I can also not see the icon anywhere on my phone and yet...

I am being charged R5.72 a day by opera for usage. This is putting a hefty R172.00 per month extra on my bill and I do not want to pay this.

Cell C tell me that as it is a thrid party application I need to ask opera to cancel the agreement

As said I cannot find opera anywhere on my phone not even in thrid party applications, I can see no icon that says "opera" and I can find no contact mail or number online but I am being chareged for this service

Can anyone advise me as to what to do to cancel this please?

I am not happy with this either and it is a charge being levied every day at the same time. I have asked Cell C to investigate. this is an example of what the billing looks like:

    CONTENT SERVICES
DATE TIME DURATION NUMBER DIALLED AMOUNT
    01-MAR-12 18:14:25 0:00 OPERA 5.27
    02-MAR-12 18:14:23 0:00 OPERA 5.27
    03-MAR-12 18:14:23 0:00 OPERA 5.27
    04-MAR-12 18:14:20 0:00 OPERA 5.27

Try pressing Menu - show all

    Icon could be hidden

Could it perhaps be one of those sms subscription services u signed up for. Maybe by mistake. As far as I know Opera mini is a free app/browser

    Opera is free.

    Someone's pulling a fast one.

    Good luck.

Haha It's got nothing to do with the web browser Opera.

Google Opera Telecom - they're euphemistically called 'content providers' I think.....

Or just go here, call them and unsubscribe:

    Thank you for this

I am currently on the phone waiting for an "operator" to take my call. "or I can send them an email"

We appreciate your call, all our service consultants are currently busy....

Mobile media and marketing... looks like a scam to me and I really do not know how I got thsi service as I am very wary of things like this noramlly

    Thanks you again

I 'unsubscribed' a number a couple of weeks ago - I think I was on hold for close to fifteen minutes, had a quick chat with the consultant and got a confirmation sms on the relevant number a few minutes later

One of my sims lost R46 in the space of 3 days to these scams until I phoned them and explicitly asked them to sod off. Can't imagine how it got subscribed in the first place... Like you I also try to be extra careful of these.

Had this on my phone bill as well this month. I noticed R131 charged for content. The guy at mtn said it was for opera telecom ( which I don't recall subscribing to ) and sent through a cancellation request. Hopefully that's sorted out.
