Something like this should be good. Act 1 you are good with your defensive stats, act 2 you may want another 100 all res. To up your damage crit chance and crit damage are your friends. Now if you want magic find while upping your damage as well... you'll need roughly 2mil per piece. Without the MF though, you could likely get by with 250k per piece.

I'm on Act 1 Nightmare with my level 36 Demon Hunter. I reckon I need a serious DPS boost. Doing about 580dps, but looking to double that at least. Any ideas?

My level 38 DH is also in Act I nightmare (almost done), and does +- 1300 dps.

Get a Higher DPS weapon and you will roll right through Normal difficulty.

Your average gear level is mighty low. But you should be able to get away with just switching in a new weapon, you will easily double your damage. And if you get a socketed weapon, triple your damage is not that far fetched

What is your battle tag? I have a nice ruby that you can slot into a socketed one handed weapon and take your DPS up to 300 ish easily. Also you should be using a focus, not a shield

If you want to make it very easy on yourself, upgrade your gear every 5-7 levels, but there is no need to go for the most expensive item on the AH at all.

Up to Hell difficulty Act IV almost any gear that is not 10 levels below your toon's level should get you through.

Stack Vitality and your primary Stat, only in Inferno do you really need to start worrying about resist all and Life on Hit etc etc.
