If they had done it like this it would have been very attractive and a step beyond Aero. They're right the glass windows thing is pretty old by now but I just think they're struggling a lot to get the feel of Windows 8 right. I agree with rwenzori on this.

looks like the new gmail look and feel...

Stupid arguments deserve stupid comebacks. Do you honestly think that the numerous objections to Win8's human interface are mere "resistance to change"? The thing is an abortion - the interface of a badly designed and unpopular cell-phone OS carved out of the phone and butchered onto their traditional desktop OS, with no consistency and no practical evaluation of the user experience. Just to get into the app-store cash cow as soon as possible. It is going to be a big failure, as it deserves.

Change for the sake of change is the real stupidity. Ne?

Yes, rwenzori, you are right and everyone else is wrong. Only your opinion matters. Microsoft are idiots and do not know what they are doing. I get it. Moving along.

Almost exactly correct. Except there are many others who think likewise. John Dvorak ( you might have heard of him ) for one:

Let me get this straight. Microsoft came out with an uncompetitive smartphone which utilizes these weird tiles and failed to achieve any sort of market dominance or even serious attention. So the company jumps off a cliff by going with this as if it's the greatest thing ever and they make it the core of the new OS? Exactly who is out there in Redmond thinks this is a great idea?

If that is the direction they're going then as an average Joe consumer, I think it is pathetic. It looks like Windows 7 without transparency. That is all I see. Oh, they added a ribbon for schit that even us techno-morons use keyboard shortcuts for. Well done...

Well, there is a saying that Microsoft faaks up the release straight after a very successful one.

    Looks like it's actually true.

I'll stay with lucky nr 7, it's pure heaven.

EDIT: And to further illustrate the stupidity of this argument I have to ask you whether you reckon things should have stayed as is with the NP in power, with their apartheid legislation, for the rest of time? And would you be happy to see Zuma in power for another 10 terms? Of course change is good in this respect!

I won't bother tackling the petrol argument as that is hardly change that should surprise anyone (I'm assuming you are aware of oil being a limited resource, of the rand dollar exchange rate and of inflation!)

Have to disagree. The one thing I liked was when they switched My Documents and My Computer into simply Documents and Computer.

Also love it, in fact its closer to my Linux format that I still think is the best, they can still fix up the Games, and other stuff.

.... and thanks for all the fish.
