    Default myPrepaid.co.za - be careful

Got a flyer in my P O Box inviting me to purchase electricity via myPrepaid. Flyer says "no extra fees/charges, no extra "hoops" or SMS"

Registered on website and read ALL the terms and conditions

Paid them via EFT, R 100,00. Website says "10 mins tops" Very simple to pay and choice of 4 banks

After 30 mins, no reply, so inquired. 3 hrs later get msg "no money in our account, you must provide proof of deposit from your bank, print it and email it to us" "There can be a 48 hour delay"

I reply: No instruction on website to provide proof of payment when paying, no mention that you need 48 hours (big difference all of a sudden from 10 mins) and also there is no provision on the website for sending proof of payment when you pay, so now what? I suggested that if I did not receive PIN forthwith, would report them to CPA and also mention it on Hello Peter

Next 30 mins received the PIN for the electricity I had purchased. It was the correct amount.

When I asked what had gone wrong, got no reply

This is why I use Capitec USSD service to buy my prepaid.

I make use of FNB online banking for prepaid electricity absolutely no regrets

They're all the same when it comes to after sales service.

Paycity & powertime are just as bad.

I either use FNB or over the counter at Checkers.

I will stick to my tried and tested FNB ATM or over the counter

Had a call from Etienne Oosthiuzen to say the messages on the website have been amended and pointing out that, after my initial communication to them, they did in fact supply the voucher for the correct amount in good time

Seeing it is so convenient to use, I have recommended to my other tenants that they use this service

I had a similar experience with myPrepaid - was in a jam at the time and was on the last bit of units on my meter - used the myPrepaid site and waited for 30 minutes before popping an email off to them - needless to say I only got my voucher the next day - meter ran out had to drive to the nearest place I could buy.

Absolute shoddy service - I wouldn't recommend anyone use them. I've since only started using the FNB online banking for top-ups

I have no interest buying from this company if there could be a 48 hour delay.

Thanks for the post. Their service is now on my 'don't use' list.

I wouldn't buy from them, based on your OP. Why have a change of heart now? Because they realized they suck and made you feel better?

No. It doesn't work that way.
