sSslik, you will have to contact CyberSmart about acquiring unlocked Firmware. what make and model is it?

whether or not they will be willing to give it to you is a different story. but you will first have to try.

if that fails, go out and buy a proper router from Linksys, netgear, or D-Link. all are brilliant quality, and will benefit you in the long run.

also, I have the exact same package that OP is requesting with MWEB.

Must say, best internet ever. no downtime so far, setup was quick, torrents get a bit of a low priority, but at night and on weekends they fly.

not a single problem. one happy MWEB customer here.

    HI there
Same here with M-web. Joined beginning of month. Download mainly on weekends, already 30 gig. Browse during week at night, must say it is really nice to just sit and browse with no fuss. It is only youtube, that I have problem with, but the rest is okay so far

    Thanx Mweb

    Default 1Mbps Unlimited ISP's

I have Netgear router (my own). Cybersmart is merely 'managing' the ADSL line. Do I still need to contact Cybersmart?

No. If you have access to your router you can change the username and password. The fact that you pay the ISP for your line aswell does not mean anything and you are most certainly not locked to them.

@MWEB Guy, I am trailing an Axxess uncapped account and it has been pretty decent (same as my Afrihost Capped Account). But all over everyone is talking about MWEB being the best for uncapped. I am considering going over to MWEB (line as well) but your billing/accounts department is infamously tedious so was a bit hesitant about what would happen if it doesn't suit my needs. Would it be possible to also trail the account for 7 days? I'm on a 1mb line? WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!

So far the Openweb Lite uncapped look the best...
Just need to check if they are via IS. Work is also at IS so think that will help for a little better VPN experience.
The Lite uncapped is unshaped but got a fair usage policy but im still waiting for details on that.

    Ok, between the following:
Open web gold (Special at R250)
Openweb Lite 1Mbps (Unshaped, fair use amount if you are within top 20% users)
Axxess 1Mbps (Unshaped, fair use amount if you are within top 20% users)

Werfie, a guy at Mweb phoned me and he can give me a 5 days cool of period but he does not know about a trail.

See... that's the problem with big companies in general. They often have absolutely fantastic products, but other than that, everything is so marred with red tape and inconsistencies that it becomes a nightmare to deal with them. Experience tells me that even making use of a 5 day cooling off period would require heaps of forms, inevitable slips through the cracks and maybe even a rouge debit order which will take days if not weeks or months to refund all while shortening your life with a year for every second you speak to "a representative" with only induction training experience and no authority what-so-ever. Such a pity.

You should have insisted on a 7 day trial. That's what I did as I was halfway through another account (middle of the month). The guy said "oh, ok."

    @Mweb Guy,
i Have asked for trail accounts from Openweb and Axxess. If MWEB can give me a trail without signing up for anything i would like to compare the 3.

    Thanks

Out of those OW Gold is the one you should go for. BUT, you have the trial accounts, give it a shot and pick whichever ISP works best for you.
    Enjoy

Must say, so far MWEB's customer service is far superior to the other two companies i have contacted.
Except the fact that they cant give me a trail account.

Mweb is by far the best. They don't throttle, but use a smart shaping system where if the network can handle it, they let you go crazy. Since their network is really good, that is usually always the case.

On the other hand there is axxess, but they are a bunch of liars. They say it runs full speed after hours etc etc but it wont, and you will get throttled after about 30gb of hard use (and im talking, useless slow internet).
