  1. #1

    Default 8ta Up speeds

I have mayor issue with my upspeed through 8ta and at night my speeds are horrible.
To give u a idea i did some speed test here and there

    Sun in the day
    Ping 250ms, Down Speed 1.72Mb, Upspeed 0.05
Early morning about 6 or so
    Ping 78ms, Down S 6.31M Up 0.37
    At night
    Ping 155ms, down 0.88meg, up 0.03M

Today again VERY VERY slow can anyone maybe provide some dns ?
I know theres a 8ta dudy here somee where if he can maybe try help from support side i have logged a ticket
    150117.

And your okes in the callcentre tune me that its cause of the 12 o clock free browsing I DONTTTTT THINK sooooo pleaseee if anyone can help. Sure DNS will do the job

    I have used the
    8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1

    Still no luck

Just did a test now: ping 37ms, DL - 7.97 Mbps, UL - 3.78 Mbps

What makes you say it's the DNS that's the problem?
    I'm using the 196.43.53.190 / 196.43.54.190 (think that's the default 8ta DNS's)
I have tried 4.2.2.1 / 4.2.2.2 before, but can't say it made any difference.

Did you have faster speeds before this or is this a new connection?
I only ask 'coz I know some people that get very high pings but that's due to coverage issues.
As for new subscribers - I was *** disappointed in the first couple of days, but as you can see above,
it improved quite dramatically after that.

    Hi Rock

It was ok in the beginning then i started to see at night im getting slower and slower and started some investigation.
Started doing speedtest and so on.
Most of the speed issues can be resolved by DNS.
Ill try those dns cause my up speed arent the bet and like u say if the ping is low the signal is weak but the pings are ok

We had an 8ta technician out here last Wednesday (23rd of May, 2012) who took a reading of the signal quality and confirmed that there is a problem. We were given Case Ref : 1099215 and told that the problem would be resolved in 5 working days. No feedback to date, problem still persists. DL 2mbps at best (hardly ever) and UL never better than 0.7mbps when it decides to co-operate - and this is Bryanston along William Nicol. We understand and believe that we should be enjoying much better speeds and certainly look forward to this. Surely this can be fixed?

    Something is definetely changes!
My connection stay for as long as i not reboot router - many days
Speed is stable 4-5M/2M during the day a and 7M/3M after hours.
I suspect 7M at night is limit of the 8ta tower as it rock stable @7.2M!
Modem is 1820 and it run @ 10-12M with CellC.

Still very bad at Ramsgate - hardly 100K with -89dB signal!

Similar issue but my ping gradually climbs through the day:/ get 60-100 ping during the day then as it gets later it climbs to 600-700. Stay in krugersdorp and have a 83dB signal?

Variable ping is typical issue on 8ta. It doesn't depend on signal strenght or congestion. Example on my connection (never resolved):
    Code:
    C:\>ping mybroadband.co.za

Pinging mybroadband.co.za [41.203.21.137] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 41.203.21.137: bytes=32 time=54ms TTL=51
    Reply from 41.203.21.137: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=51
    Reply from 41.203.21.137: bytes=32 time=59ms TTL=51
    Reply from 41.203.21.137: bytes=32 time=365ms TTL=51

    Ping statistics for 41.203.21.137:
        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
        Minimum = 41ms, Maximum = 365ms, Average = 129ms

    C:\>ping mybroadband.co.za

Pinging mybroadband.co.za [41.203.21.137] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 41.203.21.137: bytes=32 time=249ms TTL=51
    Reply from 41.203.21.137: bytes=32 time=243ms TTL=51
