Try Silicon oil (expensive dash spray silicone based). That may help.

http://www.ultimarc.com/ for the joystick and buttons... some cool stuffs there

I just mapped the joystick and buttons straight to the guts of an old USB keyboard - the PC board is very small and a little bit of patience and multimeter is all you need to figure out which is up, down, left, right etc. on the cursors. If you want an analog stick, that's different - rather get the real USB thing then.
I'm planning on Hacking 2 cheapo joypads...
    - then I don't have any problems with too many keys pressed (like with a keyboard)
    - I have X & Y Axis analog controls which will be mapped to the arcade joysticks

I have a few questions though...

    1) How difficult is it to use 6x9 speakers, and perhaps a 8 inch car sub & small amp? I'm looking for some deep bass, but don't know how to power it or connect it to a PC.
    2) Is it possible to wire 6x9's to a PC Sound system (like, swap the 6x9s for the Satellite speakers)
    3) cheap Tube TV/CRT or LCD? how safe is it to open a old TV without dying?

we should start a separate thread actually, we are intruding here..

This is the perfect thread imo I'd say its easy to connect the pc, just go pc to amp input and amp to speakers. For the tv just dont fiddle with the cable with the suction cup connected to the tube. Its safe if you're careful. If you prefer, use welding gloves . I love the idea of more bass. Space panic was one of those awesome bassy games!

Use some elbow grease and try using an eraser (hard and soft) on the plastics first, it might work.

If this does not work you are going to have to use a fine abrasive/cutting compound you can get from a autoparts place. You might have to use this in conjunction with a buffing disk on a LOW rpm drill etc followed by a polish.

This http://3mcollision.com/products/head...ns-restoration might also work but you would probably end up with a very shiny console After which you could use an abrasive to dull it down a bit.

Always test it on some other plastics first or on the inside of the case on what you want to restore.

Hi guys i have been running around like a headless chicken looking for old consoles.
I have found diddly squat having lost countless Ebay bids etc.
So this evening im doing something rash!
I have put my boxed 320gig slim PS3 with 2 original controllers, killzone 3, burnout revenge and saints row 2 for swop on gumtree in exchange for a collection of vintage consoles with games.
I also stated that i would only repond to the offers i like best, because i know im going to get alot of chancers.

Im gonna take my time with this one.

    I just hope i don't get screwed.....

Learn how to discharge the thing or get a tv tech to do it for you. Can give you a very nasty jolt, been there done that

Anything in particular you are wanting? I doubt many people have more than one or two vintage consoles at home unless they collect, in which case I doubt a PS3 will be a fair trade since they can buy one in the shops.

I'm targeting collectors who are tired of collecting and besides the value of these console are dependent on the person as many of these are being tossed into charity shops.
I got some offers though, nothing worth a trade though.

I was on eBay last night just checking out stuff and saw plenty Intellivision stuff on there. Which consoles are the oldest out of Atari, Intellivision and Ninetendo etc etc?

I don't think any of those made it to our shores...

Second generation were here for sure, two of the ones you mention are in there (assuming you meant the Atari 2600, Intellivision, NES):

We had the Magnavox Odyssey with crazy games like...
Pickaxe pete, Quest for the rings, Munchkin

Jislaaik that's some oldies right there.

I have the Mattel Intellivision one. So the Sega is younger then the Atari and Intellivision one it seems.

Well after spending an abnormal amount of time scouting for old consoles, i find this, minus the power adaptor and cables for R50.

Finally after all these years of searching......
