That's a bargain! What serial number?
Nice unit, but it looks like it needs a lot of work, you might want to invest in a new edge connector for it :P
You can use a 9Volt 1A tip negative Regulated power supply with it ,AC or DC input will work as the console has a built in bridge rectifier, just stay clear of any "cheap universal power supplies" , and for video a normal aerial cable will work if its a pal unit :P
Thanks MyDogHasNoNose, the console was bought in Switzerland and is now only second hand despite its condition.
Serial no.PE71682
@Fasman, im going to wait on the guy to try and find the cable because he is a hoarder LOL!
He has another controller lying around as well, which i hope he finds.

Great stuff man.
You must get started though, i read an article about the sudden scarcity of these consoles.
In hindsight i should have started 10 years ago....
Better late then never though.
I see you live in KZN, what a nice location to start collecting.
I have too much competition in Cape Town!

hi all
i myself had no idea that the original consoles ever made there way to SA when they came out, ive only ever seen the famicom's and associated cartridges.
many many many years back my parents bought me a Micro Genius IQ-502 from a chinese shop in the london arcade in durban and thats where i bought all my games from durning that time as it was like it was the only place that had them unless we were just being loyal to that shop ... dunno, i also remember most my friends had the golden china versions of the consoles. for mine it is still in the box and still works and my cartridges have a special storage place as well, the only thing that does not work is my lazer photo gun 3 though i read somewhere that they only work on the old box type tv's so maybe it still does work and i just dont have the right tv.
as i said though i still take out my console and connect it up and play some games which is often. also many a time have i gone out to town and around hunting for more of these games and well i did find some for like R8 at like the china mall and also some real crummy consoles but its anyones guess if u get a working one or not and whats on the cartridge is not always what you get. i also have been putting ad's out for the consoles and cartridges but the are very far and few between.
i also found that link to super potato and it was like omggggggggggggg and ever other possible saying lol for that sort of moment.
i have gone hunting on bidorbuy and gumtree and ebay well everywhere i can think of and even thought to try and source the original consoles and games and in a sence start again as in get the original games instead of the famicoms.
i have no idea why they stopped sending those consoles famicom or orginal to SA its real sad
lol i even looked into importing what i want from sites like this http://www.japangamestock.com and then seeing the exchange rate and all that just dampens the motivation

Hi Angelus.
Its a sad fact that 99% of famicom/nes games even as far back as the late 80's until today have been counterfeit.
How can you tell if a cart is a pirate version? Generally speaking, it's a pirate if:
It doesn't contain the official Famicom mark below (Nintendo Family Computer).
It says "FAMILY COMPUTER" in English (it's always in the below Japanese on real carts).
It contains no copyright info on the cart, or in the game.
The label art is cheap and looks second-generation. The label was put on crooked.
It's a multi cart.
That said the games are quite plentiful in Cape Town(pirated), and even Checkers hypermarket sells 8 bit multicarts.
Check out Charity shops in your area, or bidorbuy, i have seen a few but i think they are expensive.
Behind every corner is an absolute gem waiting to be found.![]()

I recently sold my Intellivision (not sure if the buyer is on the forum) but if you guys are interested, there are some Intellivision cartridges and that voice module thingy coming up on Bid or Buy soon and some of those "family computer" type cartridges too and I know those are selling like hot cakes.
