yeah I used to play wow online with a bunch of sweeds when I was in school, then one time in English class I was asked to read Julius Caesar, the words coming out of my mouth sounded Swedish, I simply couldn't help it, all my vowels were stretched and for a time my Afrikaans accent dissipated a bit, my teacher thought I wasn't taking the work seriously and I got a bad reading markI've got a bit of a weird accent myself: part South African, part Rhodesian (my folks came from there, OK!!), part American, and part Australian (lots of family over there).
Gets me all kinds of strange comments on Teamspeak on WoW raid nights when the other 9 folks have Afrikaans accents.

Couple of beers later people will see right through you as you falter. Saw that happen to a SA dude coming back from the US a few years ago, after a couple he was speaking lekker
