    Nope I don't gym.
See those theories are for hardcore exercisers worried about maximising their muscle definition. You don't do anything whatsoever to stay in shape. If you could get 45 mins a day in the gym 3 times a week doing a mixed routine you would lose the boepie. It isn't that complicated, just work yourself to the limit every time.

More plausible than overeating and lack of exercise over time for sure.

Stress makes you gain tummy fat. I call mine a stress bubble

I read that if you eat correctly and exercise and still gain tummy fat it might be that you are insulin resistant. You get over the counter meds for this.
No I'm not rude, just honest.

I gym 3 times a week, play action cricket, basketball and squash. The boep still stays.
Even with ab exercises, diet is still the most important and well posture.

Bru, I'm getting the same problem. But in my case it's too much junk food and too little exercise

I went for aerobics fitness lessons yesterday. It's not as easy as it looks on those videos. Especially maintaining rhythm with the rest of the class. I was completely off tune.

Abzo, sounds like you have the same built as me.

I am 29, 1.76cm tall, with a body-weight of 70kg. My boep also started, and it is exactly what people call skinny fat. You look thin, skinny, but actually you have fat, more than you think. When I was 25 and younger this wasn't a problem, it started at age 27-28.

Today my boep is almost gone, I look better than I ever looked my entire life. I used to be skinny, and for the first time I am actually growing muscle.

What did I do? Many things, but I didn't do them all at once, it was a process of adding 1 thing, conquering it and then add the next.

Here is what I still do:
    - I still drink beer, just much less, and only Castle Light now (it became my favorite too now)
    - Still go out twice a week, of which one of those days are a standing meeting of friends at Eastwoods eating pizza (half price)

    What changed:
    - Gym went from 5 to 3 days, instead of a split-routine I changed to a olympic style power-lifting program (5x5) instead of bodybuilding
    - I don't do sugar anymore, for coffee and tea I will use honey if I need to sweeten it
    - No more coke cooldrinks ect, its not entirely water with some lemon juice in to give it some taste, and black tea at work with honey
    - My diet changed quite a bit, almost no more calories, the only calories I take in, is with Oats in the mornings, rest of the day is proteins with vegs or salads, and mind you, I LOVE my chicken and meats, and even tuna is great.

    What I don't do:
    - Cardio, unless you count the ballroom dancing I started doing in March as cardio, although that is only 2 times a week (1 day class, other day is social)
    - Other than gym and dance, I don't do any other sport

My boep is almost gone, I am pretty sure once I reach 105kg squat in the Gym, most of my fat will be gone (especially the boep and a six pack should show). I haven't lost a single kg, nor picked up a single kg, but my body weight definitely shifted from fat to muscle. I can't think of anything better than a 5x5 powerlifting program coupled with a good diet, except I don't call it a diet, I call it a lifestyle, I still enjoy what I am eating, and I love going to gym since I started the 5x5 program, its simple, easy, effective.

Well I'm 1.68cm and weigh 56kg with a body fat percentage of 9% (last measured 6 months ago)

Your ideal weight is actually closer to 65kg or even 68kg. However you have to do some sort of exercise to keep the weight going into muscles instead of fat. Your food intake should be mostly clean then it will be no problem.

Sounds like almost all of that 9% fat sits at your stomach :P

And once you cannot keep up your super strict eating/exercising routine anymore, the wheels come off and it all goes to hell in a handcart.

That's why I make lifestyle choices instead of going on a diet plan or some quick get lean program. I do something that you can sustain for long periods of time. Hence the 3 day/week gym program, natural daily food intake, ect. I take no supplements, except for the occasional multi-vitamins when I want to make sure I don't get sick.

Besides, my eating habits ain't strict at all. When there is a birthday at work and people have cakes and stuff here, I join in. I still drink beer as mentioned, I still eat pizza ect, however when I buy food for home, its protein based, vegs, salads, but on top of it all, its food I enjoy eating, which is why I know I will be able to keep it up in the long run. I've been doing this since October last year. The gym program I will keep up, because I look forward to it still, even now more than 6 months later, and its only 3 times a week, so plenty of time for my body to rest.

I have seen old men, in their 50s and 60s have more energy and strength than most guys in their 20s/30s nowadays. I still look at these guys, and wonder how the hell they have so much energy, although I feel myself catching up now that I have changed a few simple things in my lifestyle.

This is a good thread, Sounds like im getting there aswell, Skinny everywhere else except over the last year and a bit i have gotten seriously lazy and not very active and gotten a boep and a almost some moobs :O... sounds terrible but yea gotta catch it soon.

I see alot of people say they change their diets. Probably my diet is causing a few of my issues.

    - I dont eat fish - just gross
    - I dont eat veggies - again but even more so than the fish. I could still possibly handle fish but not veggies.

What kind of diet would i need to follow if i cant eat the above?

    EDIT: sorry for thread steal

Well try not to do everything at once. Have a few stages, which you implement over a period of months or weeks.

    1. Start by taking out sugary things, and sodium things. Fizzy drinks like coke, is #1 reason I got a boep, because my daily food intake was mostly alright already. So do that, see if you can drink water over cooldrink, limit the amount of alcohol, don't overdo it, you will still need some at least. There is enough studies online showing beer and wine is good for you, if you take it in, in moderation. Honey is great to replace sugar in coffee/tea, though you will need to get used to it. The reason for this is, while honey has sugar in, in its natural form it also has ingredients that break down the bad parts of sugar and help breaking down fat in the body. Do some googling on that.

    2. Then some time down the line, change the food you intake on a daily basis, but not too much. Eat more proteins and other stuff, try to avoid just plain carbs. If that is too hard, start by taking out processed food and try natural food. Red meat, and chicken are great choices. I personally hate fish, but I can eat a tuna salad every day for lunch (supplied by the kitchen at work).

NB. Food that contain fat is not bad per say, so get in some fatty food, proteins and skip on the carbs, especially empty carbs that you find in most processed food. Oats is one of the best foods that you can eat if you do want some carbs, I personally eat this to help me have enough energy for the day.

    3. Do you also hate fruit? If not its a good item to eat to give your body ingredients that you won't find in meat/chicken. Someone mentioned in bananas earlier in the thread, single best fruit you can it. It is high with potassium, which is the opposide of sodium, and is really great at helping you look better. Sodium force water out of the muscles to go sit between the skin and muscle, so you look easier bloated and the fat can then go sit there, where-as potassium helps the water to be retained inside the muscle, especially good if you exercise to refuel the muscle for repair time, and helps a bit with DOMS (the pain the day after a workout).

Try those easy 3 steps for now. I am sure it will help. You won't notice it in the 1st week or even month, but after doing that for like 3 months, trust me you will see a massive difference.

awesome thx for the advice, yea can imagine coke and cooldrinks are a good place to start. I guess other than the odd coke here and there my diet is mostly balanced, just gotta chuck out the puddings and sweets here and there. Guess it doesnt help that work also buys take outs like once or twice a week.

Fruits i can eat just gotta work them into the budget somewhere. Will definitely pick up a bunch of banana's on the way home. Im not too badly out of shape yet so still catching it early but im just not very good with my diets due to not eating veggies, im a meat/pasta lover. I know that if i get to gym i can work it off the hard way but yea again adding gyming into the budget..

will definitely give it a go and work on it slowly 1 step at a time.
