Default telkomsa - outgoing mail server not connecting

    Hi Folks
we have a user that uses various methods to connect, a Vodacom 3G modem while out, a Telkom adsl connection at home and the company broad band at work.

Previously i had set his outgoing, smtp server as smtp.telkomsa.net and used outgoing mail authentication (same as incoming) and it had worked, but it now comes up "None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server".

using smtp.vodacom.co.za gives relay issues, and I have no idea what username and password I could use if I use authentication but it does at least prompt for these.

Setting the outgoing server to our work mail server and using his username and password does not seem to work either.

Has telkom changed something, or has something gone wonky on he laptop?

    Try one of the following

    msg.do.co.za
    smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net
    smtp.saix.net
Relax when you sleep..... Rest when you dead....

smtp.saix.net normally works on almost all ISPs

Um no. It will only work on those that are SAIX based.

What I noticed was that when I was on 3G I'd have to use smtp.vodamail.com/vodacom.com (something like that), and at home when using Telkom as the ISP it would be the standard smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net, but when you are using another ISP you'd change it to your ISP's smtp server (for example I'm on Afrihost bandwidth now therefore I'd have to use smtp.afrihost.co.za), I have seen this work with MWeb as well - smtp.mweb.co.za, and it might work for other ISP's as well.
So you need an uncapped account?
Well I would recommend not getting an uncapped account with TelkomInternet, here is why.
