Call from Private Number every morning
For the last month or so, I have received a call from a private number every week day morning. I answer and the call lasts for about 6 seconds, I hear nothing from the person/thing calling.
Anyone else experience this? Any ideas who or what is calling me?

maybe it's a...wake up call?
Usually around 10 am, I am awake and at work well before then.
Are there wake up call services? Could be useful for a prank
I had the samething then eventually an MTN call agent answered to try sell me something.

My wife sometimes gets the same thing.
My opinion it is just an automated call centre that is on the fritz.. It is probably automatically dialling your number and when you answer there is a problem patching you through to one of the sales people waiting to sell you crap!!

They also pre test the numbers before they sell them on to other people. So they check if the number is in use and if some one answers. I get one or 2 of those test calls before I get a new wave of sales calls.

Been visiting the site for sometime and last week I was looking for topics about this very issue.
I'm on Cell-C (also redbull mobile) and I had the same happen to me. For at least a month I'd say I was getting private number calls which would go dead after I picked up. Sometimes this happened more than once a day. Unfortunately I cant really ignore private number calls during the day so this was really irritating (hence I was looking through MyBB to see if anyone had a similar issue).
Then last week I answered another one of these calls but to me surprise there was someone on the other side, same as was with Scooby_Doo it was someone from MTN trying to sell me a new phone contract.
I went through the motions and told the guy I already have a cellphone contract and I'm not interested. This is where I got really really pissed. The agent tried to get fking clever with me. "Yes, I know you have a contract with Cell-C, and that you were born on XXXXXX", then he still has the nerve to try suck out more information, "Are you married?" etc etc.
I politely told him that he already had more information about me then I was comfortable with and hung up.
A week later now and I havent received one of these calls yet (previously they were daily).
First off, screw MTN, that agent really pissed on my battery, good job buddy, not only did you fail in getting me to sign up for your Contract, but now I will never touch an MTN product and will advise others to do the same (admittedly, nothing much has really changed on that front).
Second, if this continued (or ends up continuing) how easy, if at all possible, would it be to get the number blocked? I would be able to provide exact times of the calls so I dont see why it would be hard for Cell-C to determine the number and block it.
I know that call centers probably use a host of different numbers and methods for making calls, but any blockage is better than none, provided there was a relatively easy method to do something like this.
Thirdly, is it a coincidence that I'm also on Redbull mobile?
Also on Redbull mobile. Received some private number calls, ignored them for a day or so, no more private number calls. If it's really THAT important, they'll leave a message and I can call-right-back.

Have been receiving private number calls since Monday - 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, 1 after 6pm.
Just received the call during lunch, answered and silence on the other end then cancelled..........buggers
Had this last 2 weeks on my new Vodacom contract (Converted from prepaid to a contract)
Every morning at 10 exactly. Funny part is it stopped on Friday last week and I have yet to speak to someone on the other end.
I figured it was some sale call center, and was this close to placing private numbers in my DND list.
