Voda down in Mpumalanga?

My Cellphone has been on SOS for most of the day, connecting only to CellC and MTN, which makes it completely useless to me.

My mom is in Nelspruit and her Voda phone also went down today.

Is Vodacom aware of this and is anyone else experiencing issues?

The same happened yesterday. I have given my details to VodacomData about 2 or 3 times in the past and I am told that Vodacom does not have backup generators here, only on remote sites. The power didn't even go down. MTN & CellC has signal, but Vodacom is in SOS mode.

I am busy on the Internet using a 3G Vodacom SIM tethered in my galaxy tab with no problems here in White River and the SO has good signal on her Vodacom Nokia phone.


Edit to add: Of course Vodacom still goes to sleep every half hour on the hour and on the half hour for a few minutes. I posted this previously on this Forum...this happened with my Cell c SIM roaming on EDGE on Vodacom and now happens with my two Vodacom SIMS.
I will one day contact Vodacom about this but iIdoubt that I will get much of a response.

Not when the signal/tower is dead, no.

I'm based in Sabie. It's an almost daily occurrence that the tower/signal goes down for more than a few hours. I posted the thread last weekend to say it was down in the province, since people I know in Nelspruit also had issues.

Just a update: Vodacom is investigating the cause of this outage. Tera has been contacted via SMS informing him of the status of the call. Not sure if he got it though seeing his phone is on SOS mode only
I did set the comm method to email...not sure if they emailed him....on the notes it says SMSOUTBOUND. Hope he follows this thread.

Thanks OC, I am following the thread and I received 2 smses. One to say the problem is being investigated, one the following day to say it's been resolved.

I didn't receive any emails though. I'm at work during the day, so I can't take calls.
