    1. Camera - This is an issue with the Nexus, completely separate from the software.
Proof that you didn't read! Let me show you the one little sentence that proves this :

What did I miss about my N8?
There is no other Android phone, not just the Nexus, that can currently match the N8. But please feel free to point out the one you feel does. I could go further and read the rest of your points but if you;re not going to bother reading then why should I....

Please, please think before trolling in the comments below. This list has not be meant to be, in any way, a generic critique of two mobile OS, or even of just the N8 and Galaxy Nexus. I think that if you put the two devices side by side and analysed all functions, across the board, for generic/average users, the Galaxy Nexus from Jan 2012 would fairly easily see off the 2010 Nokia N8. But this article has been all about my own, personal experiences. I love both phones, but as I toddle off into the sunset, I've ended up with my first love the N8... Again.
But before you start celebrating the part in bold please note that, as pointed out, you are comparing a Jan 2012 device to a Nov 2010 device! There should not even be a comparison which just shows how brilliant the N8 and Symbian is

Please. Look at the htc Desire or the original Galaxy S, phones which came out in March 2010 then. The specs are (quite a lot) better apart from the internal storage and camera.

Personal preference is just personal preference, as I said in my previous post. It's nothing to compare to.
So y'all need to hide yo uzis, hide yo assault rifles and hide yo bazookas 'cos they disarmin' everybody out here!

The author should have given his article a different title and he should have put his blurb thats at the bottom at the top of the article so that people could read it.

And you didnt read my first line either
    - note the subject of his article is Symbian vs ICS

My opinion on some of your points raised though...

Can any Android currently match the N8 though? I'm not talking about just shots outdoors. Indoor, poorly lit shots? Do any of them have a xenon flash?

Remote control audio: Disagree - hardware issue (my HTC desire on android came with controls on the headphones)
So this might be Samsung shortcuts? Can anyone confirm if the SII has controls on the headphones?

Build quality: Disagree - hardware issue
There are a vast number of Androids out there now but the more popular, in my view, seems to be the Samsungs and from what I can tell they are all plastic. They admittedly do not have the cheap screens that he seems to say the Nexus has but he states this.

    Size: Disagree - hardware issue
There does seem to be a fascination with 4"+ devices in the Android world. I often lie in bed at night on my side with one hand controlling my N8 and even then, at 3.5", I find that it is often a stretch to reach top corner. Yes, this is personal preference but I am opposed to these huge screens

Profiles: Partially agree - there are many apps that can sort this problem out on android
Would these apps allow you to briefly push the power button to pull up a menu that allows you to choose the profile? Or have the silent profile appear as an option in the pull down notification screen?

PS I do find these topics interesting when sensible analysis is provided as it allows me to get a better understanding of what it out there.

Someone mentioned that in the comments of the article but went on to say it only allows caching of a pre-defined area? Can you cache the whole of SA? Or cache Mozambique if you are heading there? Nokia Maps allows you to download entire countries maps, at no cost.

I am feeling the same frustration as him though. Yes, other devices might offer more apps, or higher resolution screens etc but there always seems to be something missing that I have become accustomed to. The BIG one for me currently is the lack of phones with a proper xenon flash. This has become a point on which I am not willing to compromise so it leaves very little choice for me.

As far as I know does 10 miles square at a time through google maps for as much as you wish to download but like was said you get applications that can cash larger areas for you or you can install another GPS app.

Nope, but neither did my iPod and it has not bugged me either.

Anyways I'm not sure what this thread was all about, you like your phone and I like my phone and Steve likes his phone so all is good with the world.

Please note, as stated in the article, that Steve is heavily involved with the Phone Show, All About Windows Phone and many other phone tech sites. As a result of him seemingly having similar needs to me when it comes to a phone, I respect his views. So I will allow these words to stand for me when I explain why my next phone will still be a Symbian (the 808 Pureview). The other OSs just aren't there yet in my opinion!
I'm with you on this one, I'm eagerly waiting for the Symbian 808. I have used ios, android, maemo and blackberry (but not windows phone) since leaving nokia (well the N900 was nokia, I guess) and have missed symbian - I'm actually looking forward to using belle!

Those on the other side of the Symbian fence seem to love bashing the apparent inferiority of the OS and Nokia phones at every opportunity. This article provided another side of the story from someone who knows his phones.

Some also seem to insinuate that ANY Android is better than a Nokia Symbian. I cannot agree with this and enjoyed reading someone who shared this view. Both OSs have their flaws, not only Symbian.

I left Symbian and regretted it. I will be back on Symbian soon, though, unfortunately, they are coming to an end

That's not just a Symbian issue, try and register on any car forum or audio visual type forum etc. that's how people are...
They generally think what they own is the best and will try and prove it to everyone.
Not many people can be objective about these things.
It's just that there are more Android users on here and therefore there are more people defending their purchases...
