Not surprised that the CSA would go this way. But utterly disappointing nonetheless.

I AM SO MAD. These 2 test series are so frustrating.
Too much month left at the end of all the money.
Ya nee.
I predicted that T20 cricket will only cause ODI cricket to disappear.
Guess its Test cricket that will die.![]()

CSA explains Boxing Day issue
"We would like to clarify the Boxing Day Test issue that many fans are upset about. According to the ICC Future tours programme, the Proteas were only ever scheduled to play two Tests against New Zealand. The Boxing Day Test has not been replaced or cancelled in favour of T20 cricket for good, we will have Test matches from the beginning of January. There will be the normal five Tests. The scheduling is just slightly different. We may revert to a Boxing Day Test next season," a statement from CSA read.I see only two....

That plus a T20, as well as another in East London, bodes well for me.Port Elizabeth gets its first Test since 2007![]()

I don't like the fact that they dropped the Boxing day test, but I completely support them in dropping Durban from test hosting duties. Hopefully the Wanderers can negotiate to get the Boxing day fixture for the future. Our biggest stadium should be the one that hosts the Boxing day test, not some concrete jungle with no support. I don't like St. George's Park as a test ground either.
The boxing day test is an institution that will be missed, but I'm not sure how much it'll be missed as long as there's some cricket happening on boxing day.
Move it to the Wanderers, finished and klaar. Kingsmead should be removed as a venue altogether - the weather sucks, the light sucks, the crowd sucks, the results suck, everything sucks.

Poorly worded. As he refers to the tests in January and then says five tests.... but thanks for clearing that up
Wtf are you smoking... the boxing day test is for the short break between Xmas and New Years so you can drink beer and braai at 10am

The Boxing Day Test has been a jinxed fixture for a fews years running.
Don't worry... It will revert to being back once the Aussies, Indian or Poms visit.
Its run at a loss when the minnows come over... + the Saffers poor record at the venue suggests its best to give it a break this year.
Xmas time in durbz is much more popular for the beach anyway...
A T20 game will be a hit.
