M-Net, DStv, and etv ban airing of Nando's ad

DStv, M-Net and etv have all followed SABC’s example by banning Nando’s latest TV commercial

And, Nando's marketing and PR department rub their hands in glee... No publicity is bad publicity.

okay why is this xenophobic ffs- its says if you trace our lines back, that everyone in the country is a foreigner and that real South Africans love diversity.
Im sure nandos are shaking their heads- its the first add that is sort of safe and thats the one that gets banned.

“Whilst we understand that the commercial is a parody, we are not convinced that all our viewers will interpret it in the way intended”.

“We have a responsibility not to broadcast material that could be deemed offensive to our viewers and we have exercised our rights in this regard.”
So he's saying he's clever enough to understand that it's a parody, but he feels the South African population generally isn't. If that really is true they really should just air it, at least someone might learn something.

Someone alledged in the comments that the ANC did not want their supporters to be reminded that black South Africans also originally came from elsewhere, so they pulled strings to get it off the air.
