I think Jannie would be more inclined to seriously look at this if we keep on raising this issue.

It's pointless to even try, in order to make this change their core systems would need to be changed, if you look at the size of their customer base, near monopoly when it comes to coverage and the costs that would be involved in doing so it's simply not possible and wouldn't benefit them enough. A customer stuck on contract is a "loyal" customer anyways...
If you like me who's stuck in an area with no alternative coverage you'll just have play by their rules so learning how the game works is essential.
That ToC applies in small print on advertisements are there for a reason. Roll-over does apply, just doesn't match the logical thought process of the average customer (aka assumption) regarding in which order it gets used.
Maybe what can be done is more detailed articles and summaries of the important part of ToC's on deals here on MyBroadband which is viewable and accessible in the appropriate forums. Less sensationalism, more facts.

Where as i also think it sucks that the carry over is not combined with the rest of your data, and that we cant migrate to a say a 3Gig once you have a 2Gig contract. i have to say this the price on the special deals is really not that bad i mean where on a adsl line will you get 2Gig data with a speed of lets 1mb for the sake of argument, for R150, the data line and phone line rental is already more than that.
as far as oob goes well you can set it so you don't but this will make you loose your night owl. then again im going to assume that any client that's worried about not checking their usage is prob not going to be up on their pc past 9pm at night, let alone 12am.
I am however very peeved at the fact i cant migrate to a 3gig after a month of having the 2gig i mean come on cant they just upgrade everyone to 2gig and 3gig ,look at all the other isp's at the moment, its war gentlemen get in on the action competitive pricing is good for everyone and making your clients happy with a bonus now and then will only do you good.
I can't disagree anymore.
In T&C there are two conflicting statements:
a. There is roll-over (or carry-over, whatever),
b. current allocation will be used first.
When you read it, you will certainly miss that these statements are conflicting. It is carefully designed, so Joe Public don't suspect problems, sign a contract and becomes a valuable customer for the next 24 months.
Other issues are Night OWL on contract only and OOB. T&C uses word 'contract', but consumer don't expect that top-up contract is not a contract by T&C definition. Another trap. And another trap is OOB.
Because it's the only way the current systems and structures can do "roll-over". And I actually agree with it in terms of a contract structure.
To recap:
1. You sign a contract that says you get a new allocation of (say) 1GB every month. For this you pay your R99 or whatever the monthly fee. Fact.
2. Legally I must give you that bundle the first of every month. If I don't, I'm in breach.
3. If you deplete your monthly allocation AND you have allocation left from the previous month, you can use that. AFTER the legal obligation to give you the data you paid for has been fulfilled.
This is not part of your contract but something we added thinking people would appreciate it. Funny how the networks that don't provide some level of "roll-over" are not being attacked. But those that do, are.
There is no such thing as "roll-over for 60 days" or "FIFO / LIFO / whatever". Simply just the ability to use 'old unused' data after you've depleted your 'new' data.
Once the new systems are in place, I can fix this.

I fully understand the issue. With due respect to the peeps here, most people have not thought about the structure of a monthly allocation deal and how roll-over can work in such an environment. Technically there should actually be no roll-over or deferrals.
Take the following example:
1. You take out a contract that gives 1GB per month for 24-months.
2. Month 1 you get your allocation, but for some reason you only use 1GB over the next 3 months.
3. In Month 4, the next time you need an allocation; do I give you Month 2's allocation or Month 4's?
4. What happens after Month 24?
See the problem?
Yup, I've asked you many times to show me where the advertisments are wrong, so I can fix it, and you've completely failed to do so. Might that be because you could not find any and you're just making it all up?
Guess you'll now start insulting me again? But it does not change the facts.

Its called the bucket system, and i'ts just as shutty as the other bucket system.
Hi Jannie,
This might be a stupid question but is it not possible to roll over or "build up" your data if not used?
Sure if you pay for lets say 1gig you should be able to use whats left of it even after a few months? So if you go away for 2 months and come back during month 3 you should have 3gigs to use seeing that you have paid for month 1 and 2 already.
I'm just asking this because if you can build up free minutes that way why not data?
