I cant wait to see this.

S2 on 12 months for me would be perfect.

Does the RBM200 deduct a full minute for a 1 second call?
Yeah, but I don't to add an additional data bundle to my contract. If I'm going to paying for data every month, I want it to be part of my contract so that it subsidises the cost of my phone.

Nothing new on Cell C's website when I checked this morning, so I still don't know what cellphone I might be able to upgrade to on Straight Up Top Up 30 or 50 in July.

Not sure if this was there yesterday.

I would hope that on a 2 year contract with say Straightup 200 there would some discount(?)

Although these are very good from a simplicity and price point of view, I think its still a good idea to offer customers discounts when they buy a phone, or take a more expensive contract. It may break the simplicity aspect, but I think a straight up 500 or whatever should give you more than 500 SMSes.

Does anyone know if it's possible to pay up-front for the Straight-up contracts? Take a Straight up 100 for example - I'd rather pay R300 up front for 3 months and get it out the way than have to get a contract set up.

I agree with Saor. It would be nice if one could pay up front for the whole contract.

    @Ajax

I saw that, and the part about "your choice of phone". My issue is that they do not say what devices are available, and how I might go about calculating the monthly cost of taking a Nokia 5130 as my upgrade, for example.

    Exhibit C

Dependant on deal, they say - but where are the Straight Up deals, and why does Cell C's website still list their old contract bundles?

Who wants to leave a comment on Cell C's FB page?

Asked on FB, they said that they'll load the deals as soon as they can.

One has to wonder why this was not attended to at the start of the day, consider the amount of advertising they have been doing.

Yep, quite shoddy really. Don't know if they expect us to call or actually go into the stores just to find out what's going for what? Insane.

I went into Cell C in Blue Route this morning. Here's the deal: You can have any phone you want. You take the cash price of the phone, as shown in their normal brochure, and divide by the payment period (e.g., divide by 24 for a 24 month contract). So to get the Samsung Galaxy S2 on Straight Up is about R270/month for the handset plus the cost of the Straight Up itself. That means, for example, the Samsung Galaxy S2 on Straight Up 200 is about R470 a month.

That means, from my perspective, that Straight Up is a colossal waste of time. Why pay R470/month for an S2 with 200 minutes + 200 SMSes + 200MB when for R280/month you can get the same phone (on ActiveChat 100) with 100 minutes and 250MB? I don't think Cell C have thought this through very well. As someone else has already said, I think they wanted a catchy slogan more than a package that customers will find attractive.

This does not make any sense. Activechat 100 subs is R250 per month without the data. With 250 MB x 24 added and the S2 you pay only R30 more. This means there is a huge discount being applied here.

Therefore there MUST be a discount on Straightup 200 or abouts if you sign for 24 months. Else nobody would go with these contracts.

Phoned the call center this morning, the guy advised that on a straight up 200 for 24months with s2 is R315 pm. That brings the phone cost in at R2760.
