Correct Ecco. Now to accumulate some eBucks and move up the tiers. Fee Saver really is worth it. Btw does having a platinum account improve your chances on getting a good interest rate on a home or vehicle loan?

In my opinion if you can use the fee saver option i cant see why would bank anywhere else - its banking for free!

I don't think being on platinum helps with interests rates for loans of any sort.

don't think being on platinum helps with anything other than slow lounge access and being able to earn more ebucks ... so if you on fee saver, then rather be on platinum for the higher ebucks and slow lounge(if thats ur thing)

the SO currently has a Gold Cheque account.

with these differences that come into effect from 01 July, how much difference is there really

I dont know if she swipes more than she draws cash, all I know is that she uses the ebucks for petrol. But now you earn less ebucks?

The problem with using eBucks to buy fuel is that you won't get your Fuel Rewards discount on those purchases paid for with eBucks... I stand to be corrected however.

The new rules are in effect now, and it's become much more difficult to get the full 15% fuel rewards rate on one's cheque account. I won't be bothering to get there now cause one has to use a crap load of cheque account related products or spend about 30k on one's cheque card every month.

Back to credit card spending I go...

I dunno .... my Platinum credit card is 13.5% and my overdraft is 12.5% debit interest rate.

I don't think I got either of those on Gold

Our ABSA merchant account attracts fees for both Debit and Credit card transactions. Strangely enough the only card that has a 0.00% charge is American Express.

Hey guys I just looked at my statement and saw this little fee they charged me, now I did make one immediate transfer during the month but that when I made it they charged me for it on that transaction, are they taking a chance by charging me twice or does anyone know this service code? Their pricing guide did not have that code or anything that describes this fee.

    Thanks a lot!

Did they charge you for it or did they show the charge for it? On my account all such service fees show up against the transaction on online banking but they only get charged at statement time (one combined charge).

Oh yes I see it now, thanks for clearing it up, my following transaction was close to R38 and that was what confused me.

    I'm 0 for 2 today :/

    Thanks very much

A big +1 to this statement. I use to be with FNB and was on one of their "special" packages where you pay R70 a month for x amount of debit orders and ATM withdrawals. My bank charges always ended up in the region of R130+. Made move to Capitec and after 3 years with them, my bank charges are still only between R40 and R50 per month. I use my bank card even more now than I did when I was with FNB, as I swipe at the tills for most of my purchases (which is free) and if I need cash, I withdraw from the tills (costs R1). I even withdrew R10000 from a PnP till point once and it only cost R1. Best move I ever made and I don't need any special package that "saves" me money. Just straight forward, uncomplicated and very cost effective banking.
(PS. So far every year cash withdrawals from till$ were free for the month of December)
I have gone to find myself. If you see me before I return, please tell me to wait.
