Thread: Current Affairs

  1. #1

    Default Current Affairs

Why not block the ability of anyone who hasn't "qualified" to post in Current Affairs from viewing it. I find it rather frustrating when I click on an interesting thread title in "today's posts", not realising it is in CA, reading through and then feeling the need to comment and then realising I can't. A total waste of time. No point in reading something on a forum if you cannot comment, I might as well read the newspaper. Yes, you could argue that it is easy enough for me to check what section it is in but then why tempt me by allowing me to read a juicy sounding title anyway.

Equally frustrating is that often the subject matter is not particularly controversial in the usual CA sense but the OP decided to place it there instead of somewhere like OT.

I'd rather not see the topics at all than see them but sit quietly in the corner like a good little boy and not say anything.

You'll be able to soon enough, perhaps if you PM rpm he can make an exception seeing as you aren't a phantom or bot.

    Isn't it a 50 post qualification?

The rule is fine as is. Mostly previously banned users seem to have a issue with it. A totally new forum user will need some time to see how the forum works but a old user knows exactly what is what and where and who is who and understandably wants to 'fire' right away.
In South Africa corruption rules! Therefore, never believe anything the government says - until it is officially denied!

I must be a genius then because I have already clicked on a number of thread links and only realised after looking to comment where I was.... and that is less than a month in. Two more months of that to go.

I think you both may be missing the point. I fail to see where I have called for the rules to be changed. I am not bothered about posting in CA but wouldn't mind it hidden altogether. I have no need to see it if I am not allowed to post in it.

Sorry Clint, didnt mean it personally, you are right maybe they should not be allowed to read it either. Probably a good idea.
