Survey seems to be quite accurate. Most I know have all but rejected this. Pity the ANC isn't in touch with the public.

That is right! I will not purchase an etag! If you work for SANRAL and are reading this you better get a new job soon before you become unemployed!

Apart from SANRAL's etolling prices being inflated as a punitive measure and then released at the last minute, it is very obvious that the whole etolling system is corrupt to the core and cannot be tollerated by the public.

They needed a survey to establish this?

“The public does not object to being billed directly for utility usage, nor for paying a portion of its education and medical costs directly,” he said. “Why then does it object to paying a portion of road costs on the basis of usage?”
    It's.not.about.not.being.prepared.to.pay.for.the roads idiot!

It's about paying twice for the same thing, the wastage of our taxes and Sanral forcing an hugely inefficient and unnessecary expensive collection system on us. In one word, corruption.

Wont they get charged extra money if they do not have them e-tags??

E-Toll, just another way for government to rape our money for more "tax money".

Clearly most of SA doesn't want these e-tolls, why don't they just scrap the nonsense? Plus, they will be learning a valuable lesson from this if they do - Always consult the public before they go do these fancy-for-nothing things.

“Support for the system has dwindled to a very large extent. One could speculate this is a result of a few factors, such as the prospect of the system actually being implemented, the bad publicity around the system and the unfortunate miscommunication deliberate deception of the project from its inception.”

How the hell can you justify any charge to the people of South Africa while there is very near zero trust in the system? After the levels of corruption that we have seen in the past two decades or so the people will never believe that the road tolls are really necessary.

A good place to start would be to lower the allowances of the president's wives so that each of them do not 'earn' more than the president of the USA. Arbitrary example I know, but it does highlight the kind of absurdity that is going on in this country at the moment.

I think it's high time for the ANC to discard its royalist mentality. The people will not bend forever.

The president of Malawi/Zambia - can't remember which one, sold their presidential jet because she didn't see the need in having one. Wish our leaders had that kind of attitude.
