MacBook Pro sounds like nice hardware, pity about the OS.

Can you format it and install Windows - not interested in the dual boot solutions ?

Maybe I am a bit dumb but is there anyone that will actually be able to see 2800 x 1800 on a 15" screen?

Sure. Pixels at quite obvious to me on most displays. Try the new iPad and see the difference.

    Why?

If you format it at least install a proper OS like Ubuntu or some other Linux variant.
.... and thanks for all the fish.

Yes you notice the difference. It makes everything look like velvet covered in double thick cream

The new iPad screen is really impressive so I can imagine that 2800x1800 is going to look epic too.

I don't use any software that would run on those.

You thinking Windows when it comes to resolution, where higher DPI = smaller icons & text, rather think game UI's instead.

Example: Playing Battlefield 2 on 1024x768 vs 1920x1080 or as in this case 2800x1500. The text stay the same size they just become clearer and easier to read.

You can but its not advisable.

Best to still keep a small OSX partition to enable updates of the sw bios (EFI) & Bootcamp driver pack for Windows.
Still here ... FTL drives offline

You will be surprised at what you can run lately. I for one have Steam & Games, Office + Photoshop running in Ubuntu with no problems

But what is the big deal here--13" still has the yuk resolution--and a HDD. not even hybrid. For this prices, Thinkpad X230 seems to be a much better buy IMHO.
But, hey this a Mac, aint it?
