The Turin Shroud is Fake: One of 40 Linen Cloths Produced 1,300 Years After Crucifixion

Not only is the Turin Shroud probably a medieval fake but it is just one of an astonishing 40 so-called burial cloths of Jesus, according to an eminent church historian.

Antonio Lombatti said the false shrouds circulated in the Middle Ages, but most of them were later destroyed.
He said the Turin Shroud itself – showing an image of a bearded man and venerated for centuries as Christ’s burial cloth – appears to have originated in Turkey some 1,300 years after the Crucifixion.

Lombatti, of the Università Popolare in Parma, Italy, cited work by a 19th century French historian who had studied surviving medieval documents. ‘The Turin Shroud is only one of the many burial cloths which were circulating in the Christian world during the Middle Ages. There were at least 40,’ said Lombatti.

As a Christian I've never believed it to be of any value to my faith - proving it a fake is actually wonderful as people will stop worshipping it.

    Second commandment applies.
Christ-mass is NOT for Christians. Jeremiah 10.
Is the 10 Commandments for Christians?

Saturday is the Seventh day, Sunday is the first day.

It was proven to be a fake at least back in the 1970's already.

    Exactly.
Though it would've been nice if it was the original but at least now there is closure... until the next person "proves" otherwise...

I never thought for a second that it is real. Just another stunt by the RCC, but people like to see physical stuff to assure them that love is real.

The one documentary I saw showed that it might have actually been Leonardo da vinci that made that shroud, it actually looks like him. He described the technique perfectly and they were able to replicate it.

There might be some real reasons to believe in god... but this in not one.

I don't care what the nay-sayers have got to say.
They can't conclusively prove that it isn't real

...or that it isn't Beelzebub's shroud and that he is ROFLMAO'ing at his practical joke.

What a silly article by the OP. It evinces utter ignorance of the real scientific and historical issues around the Shroud of Turin. Far better to read this website run by a Jewish expert who's studied the Shroud in very great detail, Barrie Schwortz. He was part of the original STURP scientific team. His website contains dozens of scholarly and other articles on each and aspect of the Shroud -- and it still remains an enigma no matter what the Infowars article says. If you're really interested spend some time browsing this non-Christian's site. It is the most comprehensive Shroud resource on the web.

Even more ignorant are the anti-Catholic statements made above. Let me state it briefly:
    * No Catholic on earth believes that the Shroud or any other artifact, relic or even book has anything to do with reasons for believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is truly risen from dead.
    * No Catholic on earth worships anything other than the True Living God. To worship anything other than God is idolatry and for us is an absolute horror and unthinkable in the extreme.

empirex loves infowars. A lot of the articles he posts come from there.
The box said "requires Windows7 or better" so I installed Linux.
