Yet Apple's trend towards disabling key features on prior devices is now bordering on despicable (so I wouldn't give them too much credit)
For example:
Why can the 3GS get iOS6, but not iPad Gen 1.
Why can the iPhone 4S get full iOS6, but not the iPhone4?
Why is Siri restricted to only their new gadgets (iPhone 4S and iPad Gen 3).
The only reason that makes sense is manipulating customer's to buy a new product in order to get certain software features.
I agree they're definitely not leading; all their efforts for the last few releases have focused on catch up -- so too iOS6, hence I don't believe it justified the iOS6 moniker.
For example:
Apple maps is by in large an effort to recreate what was delivered in 2007 with the 1st iPhone; so why should this be regarded as an advancement in iOS6. I rather see it as 2 steps backward and 1 forward i.e. when iOS6 is release it's still going to be very subpar to Google's maps. Sadly for SA, I think it's going to feel like 2 steps backward, and none forward.
